mystery sickness

Has anyone ever delt with a fungal lung infection. Dixie is still sick. She has been since Autumn Oaks. We were treating for rat poison at my local vet and she gets better then crashes. Took her to Iowa state and they are testing for this fungal lung infection. She continues to get fluid build up in her lungs.

I think blastomycis or something like that is a fungal infection of lungs. That is what Bill Boester just lost his Dan dog from.

Can take forever to cure and can get costly. I had a pup get it. It's hard on their lungs hope you get it cured quick. Good luck.

This works best if you have a small room of some sort to confine the dog to. You'll have to go in and clean up every day but it's not the end of the earth.

Get a cool-mist humidifier. It has to be cool-mist. That's not a brand name, just a type. The more plastic on the model you choose the better.

Mix food grade hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with water and run it through the cool-mist humidifier 24 hours a day. It's 16 oz. of 3% food grade H2O2 in one gallon of water.

It should be gone in under a month. Keep the dog in this environment for a couple of weeks after it looks better. Fungus is really good at getting into very hard to reach places in the body and it is difficult to get all of it, that's why you have to leave the dog in there for a while after it appears to get better.

Sounds like its going to be quite a fight. I sure wish I would have posted something right away my vet never once thought of this even after 3 x rays blood tests and UA. Guess they are not common in SD.

Most Dr.'s of any kind are just programmed. The nice thing about Vets. is that there are more of them that will give you information like this than there are in the human field. The problem is that when ever a doctor steps outside of the magic circle of licensed and FDA approved methods of treatment, they open themselves up to big fat lawsuits. Remember, a license is a permit to do something that is illegal. It's all about control. There is a wide, wide world of information out there and it's all at your finger tips.
