Score

When there is a tie in a hunt and you hunt an extra hour to determine cast winner ,what score do you use the first score or the total of both.

Andy, I say only the first hour score. The second hour is used to break the tie from points earned from 1st hour. All dogs should be placed based on a 1 hour cast.

score

If the score was tied the first hour why is that score to be considered ? That doesn't make any sense at all to me
maybe I dont understand your logic if the second hour is to break the tie it seems to me THAT should be the hours run and score to be considered

It's the most fair way to do it.
EXAMPLE - all three final casts are sent to the field. (Registered, Champs, Grands) Highest score wins the State Championship. Registered casts score 300 points in 1 hour
Champs casts scores 400 points but ends in a unbreakable tie.
Grands cast scores 500 points in 1 hour.
Champs go back out for another hour and score 200 more points.
Its not fair to add both hours to make 600 points. It's also not fair to take their second hour score of 200 as a final score.
The fairest way is to compare each cast that was sent at the same times under the same conditions. That's why they use ONLY the first hour score and consider tie breakers just that, something to break the 400 point tie.
In this scenerio the Grand would win with 500, Champs 2nd with 400 and Registered 3rd with 300
Hope this helps.
