Don't know much about leopards but I am getting one this week. Tell me what u know I really hope I like this breed. I've always hunted walkers and some redticks. Thanks

Leopards

Just like all breeds there are good ones and bad ones. I hunted walkers for years and have nothing but leopards now. To me they work to please you more like a lab. Some of them will go deep and hard while others do not. To me this has a lot to do with how they are trained but breeding is part of it too. They are smarter than most hounds, at least the good ones are. Some of them are crazy and will break their neck to get away from you and some lines are more prone to be this way. A lot of them tend to be one man or family type of dogs and tend to be cautious. It is just my thought but the cautious ones are
smarter and work to please their owner more. Once the cautious ones are exposed to new things and people they are fine. The crazy ones at least for me stay run away nuts and if they can be trained it is not by me. The one you are wanting does exist and if you find it look out walkers and english. I know I have said a lot that sounds bad but if you point out the faults of any other breed that sounds bad too. There are many folks who know more about leopards than I do and could give you more info. I hope this helps a little and if you wish to talk my number is at the bottom. I am always willing to talk dogs.

That's pretty much right on. I'll add that some lines veer more towards a running hound and others towards the coonhounds but nearly all of them tree well. It's more about finding the line that works better for what and where your hunting at first and then finding the best crosses in that line. Once you have that out of the way, sit back and enjoy.
