What is the chances of ??? Blue BMC or B&T one?

Just wondering what you guys thought? My Josie has just had a litter with 3 blues and 3 black and tan ones and two standard color. I guess it is odd to me but they sure are beautiful. Give me some feed back how many of you get blue pups and how often? And how many get Black and tan pups and how often? The momma is black saddle backed and the daddy is out of Sandy Blue they both are heavy with Casey and both are straight Ladner Bred.

That pup is from a litter that I raised off of Jerico and Sandy. As far as I know all of those pups are making good tree dogs. The blue comes from the Silver dog that is in both Jerico and Sandy's pedigree. And Sonny has the same as Jerico. the pups you have should be pretty heavy with the Silver and some other great ones. ( duke, rambo and casey) I can send you Sandy Blue and Jerico pedigrees or pics if you are interested.

I would love to see some pictures

I have the pedigree on Wyatt's papers I would like to know more on Casey and Genny too if anyone knows them it would be interesting to see them as well, Jeremy Gunther sent me a picture of Sonny he is dark colored too, when you think of Ladners or me anyway I picture a yellow dog with a black mask but this just surprised the heck out of me when I looked in there and saw these.

hey Mitcell

I got Jerico here My buddy Max and his son got him and Max and I are good friends I got him over at my barn, man he is an awsome looking dog, I can't wait to see him go. Does he have any problems we should know about? Or a few pointers on what to expect from him? Does he tree squirrel too? Justin said he treed two coon with him before he brought him to his dad. I am trading my blue tick female to Max for him and a pup. He should go good with my program. Thanks

Loyd these dogs are Ladner Bred too.

The female is out of Long Beach Sonny and Cajun Pearl Jermey Gunther in Al got all his stock from L.H. This female has a black blanket back. The Sire of these pups is out of Walls of Jerico and Sandy Blue he is averge looking BMC. Jerico and Blue both have a lot of Silver and Rambo in their pedigree. Maybe some of the non dominate genes just clicked and brought out some of them in this cross. I'm keeping the blue female she is beautiful. I have talk to several other breeders that said the Silver dog was known to throw some blue pups. ?? It doesn't matter to me what color they are as long as they are tree dogs. I just think they are pretty and Shocking espically when you are expecting a standard looking litter.

!!

The Silver strain of Ladner BMC's have and often will throw the dark colored pups, Call Curt Ladner and he can give you all the history on all the dogs listed above, I seen the Jerico pups when they were just a few days old up at Sugarbears(Jeremy Mitchell) house. The dark colored pups happen all the time if the right crosses are made. Either way, that is a beautiful litter of Ladner Curs!!!

Hey Marvin

Sonny and Jericho were not litter mate brothers, but were out of the same cross. Sonny is not yellow or buckskin, but is a goldish color; he had a little black on his muzzle when he was younger, but he lost it all as he got older, he doesn't have a spec of black on him other than his nose. He has white splashes on his feet and a white splash on his chest.

Pearl was yellow w/a black mask.

Here's a pic of Sonny and Pearl on Pearl's first daytime coon.

Curt Ladner told me that Silver's sire, Yellow Bill, would throw a lot black and tans, and the pups you have are very tight on the Casey/Silver blood. Below is a link to a litter mate brother to Josie. He is as fine a lookin black and tan Ladner dog that you can find and he got he 1st daytime coon last weekend on his first solo hunt this kill season; his owner does not work his dogs in the off season.

My first Ladner male was buckskin blue and had green eys. He was a good treedog and was easy on the eyes. Neither of his parents were blue, both were yellow w/a black mask.

The "blue" is just a "diluted gene" that is attached to the gene that makes the dogs black or brown. So, if the diluted gene was not attached, the pups would be black or brown/buckskin... here is a link if you are interested in gaining more info on the "blue" color.

http://homepage.usask.ca/~schmutz/dilutions.html

I'm like you, I don't care what color they are. Like that old saying goes "pretty is is pretty does"

Good looking litter of pups.

Hi ,

You have some great Black mouth Cur pups there, that are bred down from some of the greats. I have hunted with many of them and have owned some of them.

I owned a black & tan sister to them mother of these pus that is doing great.

If you would like to look at the pedigrees to the dogs in these pups, go to Perfect Pedigrees.com to look at them and pictures of some of the dogs.

God bless & good hunting...

It sounds like you are hooked now like me.

I first squirrel and coon hunted with a Ladner Black Mouth Cur (Saucier's Bullet) in 1978 and was hooked. "Bullet" was a black dog with brindle trim and was one of the best tree dogs I ever hit the woods with.

I am still hunting and breeding the Black mouth Curs today.

Jerico's and Sonny's daddy "Walters' King" was a litter mate brother to Loyd's Lady female and a 1/2 brother to Loyd's Cry female. I have been breeding the BMCs for many years and have learned you can breed one way to get the yellow & red dogs or you can take some of the same dogs to breed for the blacks, brindles, & blues if you know the ones to breed to. You can breed yellow to yellow and get the odd colors. Look at the pedigree for Walters' Sally by Ladner's Scout II x Ladner's Jan II both yellow dogs, but the pups were all brindle.

A good tree dog is a good tree dog no matter what color it is.

God bless & good hunting...

James I text you some pictures

Thanks for the information and yeah I love my curs, I am hopping to get them bred good enough to get some more folks in this area started on them. I know it takes time and patients but feel I am headed in the right direction. I plan on getting me a female off of Joey Hudsons ol bandit to add some good blood to these. I like what I see coming from Joeys dogs. Or what advice do you got for me to add new blood without inbreeding or line breeding to much?

There are some people in east tn. with dogs from me and some from L.H. Ladner. They are using them on squirrel, coon, and black bear. I will try to find the pictures I have of them.

Joey is a friend and he has some great dogs. they will cross well with the ones you have. If you get one from him that has Bandit and my other friend Jason's Hell Creek Dixie some were in it, that would be good. Bandit and Dixie both have the Duke blood and Dixie also has the Trap blood in her. My Walters' King had Duke and Trap on his top side.

I hope this helps some.

As some of you know, or may not know, L.H. Ladner bred for color. He had the Ladner Yellow Blackmouth Cur, and the Ladner Blackmouth Cur which was any color other than yellow. Why he started doing this is because the yellow dogs was what was selling the best. I have seen some with ring necks, but I have never seen any lepoard colored Ladner dogs. Not a thing wrong with breedibg for color if you know what you are doing, and L.H Ladner knew what he was doing.

Hi orchidhunter,

LOL,,, I just went by the Falls awhile back, can I go bear hunting with you??? You want me to call Mitch and make it a polar bear hunt?

L.H. use to tell me them black dogs with white ring necks of his were some mighty fine tree dogs. I know the brindle with white ring neck female(Walters' Dixie Jolene) I had sure was. She was a litter mate sister to GrSqch,Grntch,Trch,Ch Wolf River Mollie Belle another great brindle BMC tree dog.

Color does not meen a thing to me, I have always bred for tree dogs and always will.

I wasn't breeding for color.

I just thought it was odd that so many came black and tan and blue. I must say Jerico burnt my black and tan night before last. They both struck about the same time the black dog pulled up on the tree, I could barely hear Jerico but when I got to the tree I could see why, the coon was in a whole in the rocks beside the tree about three feet from it, Jerico was back in there trying to get it out. Sugarbear I don't know why you gave up such a fine dog but I'm glad you did, I traded my bluetick female to Max for him. I took him Friday eve with my omcba female and Wyatt he slammed two squirrels real quick, then I took him the same nigh and he took that black and tan to school. I like him. I can't wait till Josie weans these pups so I get get her back at it.

Hi,

I am sure glad to hear you got Jerico. I have heard many good things about him.
When bred to the right females, he is going to make you proud. There is one not to far from Maryville,Tn. that I would sure like to see him bred to. I will try to find the man's number.

If or when you breed Jerico to Josie please call me and let me know.
