Reminiscing

I’m 67 and haven’t hunted in a few years . Some of my fondest memories are of the old timers back when I was first starting with hounds . I guess I didn’t pay attention so I’m asking if any of you remember what.22s were popular back then ? Anybody remember what their Dad or Grandpa used ? I remember most of them were pretty darn good shots ! Thanks

What Gun?

My grandpap hunted with a carbide light and a shotgun. Toward the end of his hunting, he got fancy and got a Bill Boatman Dynalite. Hides were nailed to a side of the barn.

As a kid, I remember getting 2 coon with one shot with an over and under.

I've always just used a single shot .22. The red dot scope has helped a lot. Used a wheat light, nite lite, Raw Dawg, etc.

Old guns

Well I picked up a Winchester model 69 . It’s a bolt action 5 shot clip with a peep sight . Get this, a gun made 1935-1937 and 4 of the 5 shots could easily be covered with a dime . It’s from Texas and I wonder about the stories it could tell through the depression and putting food on the table ! Happy hunting !
