Possums breaking.

I've got a dog that got on a possum kick. Tryed breaking him in woods, didn't seem to work. So I trapped one had it in back yard for 4 weeks. Got him where he wouldn't go near it then just never paid know attention. I now have 3 running loose in the large back yard, there still alive and eating and drinking. He hasn't offered to kill or even mess with them. Hasn't offered to tree another. What do you all think. Is he broke?

I don't know. Only time will tell. but I'm putting possums in my dog yard as soon as I can trap some.

This may be a little bit extreme but it sure seems to have worked for me. I have a really nice dog that all of a sudden fell in love with possum. Would tree them, maybe 3-4 in a night, would catch them on the ground and bring them to me as if he was proud. I tried getting ruff at the tree on him but you could tell he didn't understand that. So I tried the old tie a dead possum around his neck and put a live possum in the kennel next to him. That seemed to work until I got a little female that would tree a possum. He would back her but you could tell he knew he shouldn't. This was my solution: I made a short chain with a snap on one end and a ring on the other. Make a loop with the ring end to go around the possum. The next possum they treed. I tied them back a pretty good way, shot the possum, put the chain around it and snapped it to the dogs collar. every time I shocked the dog he would jump and the possum would bang against him, the possum was 12-18 inches from him. No idea if he's broke but I'm not having any more trouble. Did the same with the female.
