You should look into the books of Bob Plott. The man is an incredible wealth of knowledge on the breed.

A lot of the best reads are the big game hunting books. High Lonesome Press in Silver City, NM has reprinted quite a few.
Buddy Woodberry has quite a few hound books for sale, including most of the High Lonesome books at
https://www.dusupply.com/hunting-bo...ound-books.html
Del Cameron's Call of the Hounds about his blueticks in Montana is a fun read.
U of TX press has one about redneck Fox Hunting called Gray Ghosts and Red Rangers: American Hilltop Fox Chasing by Thad Sitton.
The American trail hound (The Sportsman's library)

The Last Coonhunter by Joseph Crance is a very good, fun to read, fiction, centered around a family that hunts with coonhounds.
