Crocket is a 1st strike and 1st tree dog. He is not a silent trailer. He opens quick when he smells a coon. He does not jack tracks and drifts them out and gets treed. Locates the tree good and rolls it over to a steady chop. Come hunt with him and see for yourselves what type of hound he is. Anyone is welcome.

We are still hunting him while breeding females. Not a mean or aggressive bone in his body. We dont tollerate aggressive behavior in hounds period!

The same traits are showing up strong in every gyp we have breed to him. My definition of a sucessful breeding is that majority of pups in a litter will naturally trail and tree a live coon. The rest lies in the hands of those that handle the pups and give them the opportunity.

Looking to try and cross blood with some of Russ and Perry's dogs. They have been successful with their hounds for years and would like to bring in some different blood and double up on some traits. Just waiting on the right female.

Had a great visit with Russ about making a cross. I love to listen to him talk about the hounds. He still has a passion for making great hounds. Going to spend more time learning about his hounds and their traits. I can't wait

Took the old fellar out and let him stretch his legs the other night. He can still make finding and treeing a coon look easy. We sure love our Crocket dog!

As much as I love the way Crocket opperates in the timber I believe he is by far producing offspring better than he is. I have never been more excited about hunting pups and watching their natural ability take over than I have been with his pups. His pups can fly down a track and get hooked to the wood fast. I believe with all my heart that he is raising the bar in reproductivity. Track speed, independence, drive, and winding ability is dominant in his pups. These are the traits we see in what we have kept and the traits we are hearing about from those hunting his pups. The other thing that I have noticed is a really loud volume that carries good as well. I feel very fortunate to be able to co own Crocket and do so with my best friend Larry who knows how to raise coon dogs.

I want to thank those who have called and are going to breed their prize females to him. The reason I used the word prize when talking about females is I understand how these men and women feel about their gyps and how many hours they have invested in them. Thanks to each of you!

Crocket is the first dog we have ever advertised at stud and we have had many nice hounds that we have won with in hunts all around. The difference in him and the others is his ability to consistently produce prepotent traits that are a must to get in the winners circle. In every litter he produces very independent, get gone, track driving, quick tree locating, Loud, stay put pressure tree dogs, that can wind coon that are laid up and not moving. The other part is they are beautiful hounds that meet or exceed the breed standards. Like all other hounds ole Crocket has things about him that some might not like, but he does exactly what I think he should in the woods and in the stud pen to be counted as a stud dog.

This is how he operates
When you cut Crocket loose he leaves you on the run hunting. When he gets the scent of a coon he opens his mouth and communicates accordingly. (he is not a silent mouth trailer) if he was we wouldn't be breeding him cause that is a scratching offense and isn't desirable. He locates the tree with a good bawl, and rolls it over to a chop on the tree. He is not I'll in any way at all, but will stay put with any company.

We would not offer him at stud if he had major faults or did not produce traits that are desirable. We believe if given the chance to prove himself in the stud pen that there will be many folks hunting his pups that love what they have.

We had a great hunt with some great dogs and great men this last weekend. Drew out with last years world finalist and double cast high scoring zone semi-finals winner Dual Grand Ringo with Danny Nowltcamper, and 2012 world champion blue tick Dual Grand Smoke with Roger Duncan. We had a great cast and scored 4 trees with 3 coon seen. It was lots of fun hunting with those guys and their hounds.
