If your talking nursing pups at 2,4,6wk nothing is better than strongid T.I get it at a vet because its stronger so you give smaller doses..Stongid T is 1 cc per 10 lb and Nemex and durvet is 5 cc per 10 lb..I think thats right.Same ingredient tho.I dont think the vet version really cost much more.If it does its not much. All vets may not sell it otc.

TSC feed store has it in a 1200 pound syringe for horses for about 12 or 15 bucks but not sure with this run away inflation we’ve had over the last 3 years…
It can come in different names for the generic versions…the active ingredient is pyrantel pamoate…this wormer is very forgiving…a little extra won’t hurt…
Most feed stores carry it in the horse or livestock section…most of the meds I use on my dogs is from the feed store…

It the same as nemex 2 but stronger. I have been using it on puppies for many years…you can start worming at two weeks without issues…

I sell and use pyrantel pamoate for puppies. 1 cc per 10lb of body weight, and cost $8 for 8 oz bottle. For the older dogs triple wormer is my preference and recommendations

I think Strongid T was the original horse wormer…I say that because that was the only one available before the generics were found on the shelf…

RFD puppy wormer works very good. I've used it for years.
I get it at TSC.

Years ago I received a $400 lesson. ....
I had always just used Nemex ( pyrantel pamoate ) or the generic version until weaned. Until one litter I had a pup get down in his back end to the point he was almost dragging himself and in somewhat a paralyzed state ... I took him to the vet thinking something more serious was going on. well guess what it was a worm in the muscle next to his spine and pinching a nerve causing the issue described above. Vet prescribed what I later discovered was just plain ol safeguard
( fenbendazole ).
The Pup was fully walking normal 3-4 days later. Ever since that issue I ALWAYS discontinue using the Nemex after the 3rd week and go to safeguard. I do use Ivomec on week 8 in addition to the safeguard.
So many people are afraid of "over" worming a puppy that I believe most arent wormed "properly".

This is what has worked for me for a long time now.

Nemex - give on week 2 & 3

SafeGuard ( fenbendazole ) - after week 3, I use safeguard weekly till weaned

Thanks for posting...Safeguard is the other horse wormer as you mentioned..it is very forgiving and like you said many will not give enough of the wormer and this probably is the main cause why worms become immune to some of the wormers...Safeguard is given 3 days in a row to be most effective...

Ivomec is pretty forgiving as well...that is what I use for heartworm prevention...kills ear mites and fleas if enough is given...

The only wormer I've used on dogs or pups in twenty years is ivermectin.

I use nemex at 2 weeks then switch to safeguard goat wormer at 4, 8 and 12 weeks. At 16 weeks I usually switch them to simparico trio.
