ky hunter why wood you watch your dog chewing with out stoping him,it will onley get worse
i dont have a great reason just excuses -
-- yesterday was the second or third time i guess that he went from strike to tree -- altho he has been turned in to a few trees -i dont like to disipline dogs too hard at their first few trees -
you are right, i dont like dogs to chew- -- i do like to see them as fired up as he was --
to tell ya the truth i kind of was watching him in amazement -- he would hang on to that bark until he wasnt moving-- hanging like he was dead--would cry a little like he was in pain , then drop to ground landing on his back - and get rite up and do it again --
i have never seen a pup do that before but i guess its just a variation of dog climbing tree-
he was treeing hard when i first got there and again before i left -
whats your best method of breaking them from chewing--u can pm me if u want-- my shock collar has been at tritronics the whole season -- and i kind of thought id be better off to wait until he was wearing one to try and break him from chewing --
i usually will put a leash on them and and step on it -- when they are jumping way up the tree- yank em back down-- but he was doing that to himself -
was a foot of mud under that tree and not easy to step on leash -
anyways thats my excuse- - i dont disagree with either you or travis-- cause chewing , climbing , jumping ,doesnt do any good- and can lead to worse -- he is a spoiled rotten pup anyway - lol
i dont know if you have spruce/fir thickets in ky --but i had to lead 6 dogs out thru some of worst around-- and thats punishment enuff -
