possible bear dog?

just wanting any ideas if this dog would work for a bear dog cause i'm done with him on coons. he is out of big d and this is what he does. very fast on strike and very very fast on track but i cant get him to tree . i've had him locate and start to tree one time but by the time i got to him he shut up and went on .i have ran him with other dogs and he does great , strikes and track but gets to the tree and shuts up. i bought him knowing that he does this but most of the time this problem can be solved pretty easily just by hunting them with other dogs and some other ways ,which i think i've covered all posibilities he has a BIG BIG voice that carries great and would be a big winning in comp. hunts but i'm done and thought i'd see what u guys mite have to say thanks for your time mike

I know of at least 10 " coonhound culls " that were tried on bear.
My opinion is that a cull is a cull. Don't try and pawn him off , cull him!

Im not panwing him off on anyone just am impressed with his speed and nose on moving a Coon track just cant figure out his tree issue and i dont know anything about bears and just was wondering if he would work as a track dog on bears i dont believe anyone should cull a dog until u give them a chance on becoming something and just because i can't figure him out doesn't mean he's a cull. Sometimes people have to admit thay dont know everything about everything

My brother in law has a dog that would do what you say yours does. She didn't start treeing till she was a little over 2. Now she is a very accurate tree dog. I would not have given her that long usually if not treeing for me by 1,they are gone. It's up to you as to how long you want to wait.

One of the best bear dogs that I have owned was a dog that didn't make it as a coondog. Its worth trying. JMO

i wouldnt give up on him just yet. lay him up for a while then when he gets to be around 2 years old hunt his a$$ off for a mounth or two. if he dont make it by then i would maybe try the bear thing with him. i got one now that was the same way you sayhe is. shes not over it all the way yet but shes is close. better ever time. you want him to tree put one up a tree and tie him under it, make him tree it. walk away from him and let him tree it till he gets tiered, when he stops go back and get him fired up how ever you can till he trees on it some more. leave him tree for about 1 hour then take him hunting. dont laugh that was what i did and it worked some how. i was like you, about ready to give up.
