Marine, Garmin antenna experts?

I read on a coyot hound website where a marine or cb antenna could be matched to track Garmin collars. Would like input on this as well as would I get just as good of reception if I mount one antenna on a hood corner mount and one behind the bed on a cab corner mount or is a magnetic antenna on roof top the best range possible?

Go on line look up magnum telemetry they sell a magnet mount antenna it is four foot long and connects right to the astro u can use a marine antenna but u will have to adjust the length to get the SWR correct and then u would have to buy a adaptor for the coax cable to hook it up to the astro. The aftermarket antenna is $45 from magnum. It increased my range to 4 to 6 miles. Hope this helps

you can hook up marine antenna's to garmin all you need to do is go to radio shack with garmin and the antenna and ask them for adapter to hook the cable up to your garmin. i know alot of guys that do this since most people generaly have an extra radio antenna laying around

.

For you to get the most out of your system the antenna needs to me turned to the system. Several out there that are. Garmin makes a magnetic antenna that sells for $35 and triples the range. I have one being made for me that is a little longer and does a little better for $50.

A couple years ago I purchased a Fire Stick in the MURS frequency which is what garmin is, 151-155. I spent close to 100 bucks on it and the cable and connections. I got consistently about the same as I did with the $35 garmin antenna.

Be careful if your running a radio and you have power you will damage the garmin if the antennas are close.
