An old time coon hunter once tried to explain air temperature versus ground temperature and other factors affecting scent conditions, all I know is that day to day conditions sometimes seem to change. I know that moisture has something to do with it but there has to be more to it. I will continue to run my dogs whenever I get the chance, I was just hoping for some insight and commentary from people more experienced than myself.

ive been told the barometric pressure down or going
down is not gonna be a good day to hunt.i tell myself
rabbits just does'nt want to come out and play today.LOL

I've noticed when there's a sudden drop in the temp from one day to the next seems to mess up the tracking. which would back up the ground and air temp theory. seems to me that when weather patterns stay constant for a few days the tracking gets better.

Found this article, might give a little more insight. This is birddogs, but I have had beagles that compare to some of these scenarios also.
