Tree and stay tree'd. Dont need 120 a minute just a good steady chop will do.
Has to sound like a hound, loud enough to hear at a pretty good distance. Dont want no squeaking and squalking. I prefer the short bawl track that opens quick but dont want one too mouthy on the track. Will not own a silent hound. To me that goes against everything a coon hound is suppose to be. A good locate is a plus but not a deal breaker.
At some point after starting one I start looking at the want to in the hound, how much drive to go hunting and use the tools. At some point a decision has to be made to keep or cull after the singling out. If the dog does not show the drive when hunted alone and only hunts with others, well it's decision time...
Anything after that as far as color and such dont matter. Redtick, Bluetick, Black and White with ticks all looks good stretched up on the side of a tree.
The one trait I guess would be tracking, without that all the others are mute. JMO
