There is a thread on this board titled "Rabble Rouser Pup's First Night Out. It basically was started to talk about a young, up and coming male, now named Nite Ch. PR T-Top Northwood's Yankee.

Yank is out of Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Rabble Rouser and a female called PR River Bottom Spice and both Rabble and Spice were out of Gr. Nite Ch. PR T-Top Tree Talkin' Red Rat.

I was going back over that thread and some names came to mind...in no specific order.

Yank - Haze
Leinie - Cherry
Smoke - Sue
Dagger - Locket
Ray - Case
Shelly - Shaker
Rage - Bo
Kage - Sis
Hurnie - Silk
Renegade - Griz
Red - Flirt
Cid - Shadow
Dark Man - Moose
Rufus - Ruby
Sal - Rocky
Baker - Rose
Music

There are 33 pups and dogs listed here and all are talked about or have pictures in that thread from just over the last two years, seeing as how Yank just turned two in December. All are connected by a common thread. Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Rabble Rouser. Those dogs and pups are produced by 12 different females.

Rabble is gone but the T-Top line of hounds lives on all across the country in some very nice young hounds still to make a mark in our breed.

There are others mentioned in that thread, like Rabble, Rat, Raven, Rocky, Spook, Biscuit, Rebel, Babe, Bomber, Belle, Rusty, Sam, Gus and on and on it goes. Although not sharing the common thread that is Rabble Rouser as their sire, they are all still connected from the very foundations of their being, going back to very common ancestors up close, within 4-5 generations.

As we start forward into this new and exciting future with Yank and some other young hounds, I would simply say that what I mention here should point out what seems so obvious to me personally but evidently continues to elude so many...the objective of a breeding program is to produce consistency...which means to produce success time and time again...over and over again with cross after cross, whether line bred or outcrossed.

We simply provided the proof through training and hunting stories and feedback from our peers, through wonderful times shared and experiences documented for all to see.

What was the goal?

To put together crosses and to produce hounds that can and will meet the widest range of needs for different kinds of owners all across the country. There have been some oustanding crosses made with a T-Top hound as part of the foundation...please don't overlook these crosses and ignore the consistency at which success is realized with hounds from this line.

We will be out and about this year with some real nice young hounds...we hope to meet and compete with many of you and look forward to making new friends and to opening new eyes to the Redbone breed and the T-Top line of hounds.

Watch for us somewhere down the road and believe this...that if you draw us...we'll be packin' a coon dog.

Griz(Rabble/Music) is 15 months old. He is by far the hardest/intensed tree dog I have ever owned. Our season was one of the worst I can remember as far as coon running. He still has a ways to go on working a bad track, but I am confident he will get that straightened out come spring. When Griz is turned loose, the main thing on his mind is getting treed. Hope you enjoyed the couple of phone calls from the woods. Thanks again Tom for your devotion to the T-Top line and hooking me up.

I owe Tom a world of thanks for helping me get back into coonhunting after a 6 year hiatus (and I didn't want to do it with anything but red dogs- like the first one that I ever had).

T-Top Silk is an easy handling dog with the gentleness of a lamb with adults, kids, and other dogs...............but will tear into a coon almost before it hits the ground when hunting. She was getting stronger at the tree the more I hunted her this fall. Then the deep snows and cold hit and hit early here in northwestern PA.

It figures the year I decide to get back into coonhunting and the mother of all winters hits early and hard. Oh well, when the weather breaks we'll be back at it.

Thanks again Tom!.......and here's a couple of pictures of Silk from just today. Not the best but the wife didn't want to stand in the 13 degree temps for too long.

Hey Tom, got to see some good T-top blood work yesterday. It was 0 degrees out and we put Billy and Shelly down on a bobcat track at 1:30 in the afternoon. At first they were moving it at a walk but it didn't take them too long to get it moving. At 2.87 miles the Garmin showed them treed. We got to them and petted them up. It took us almost an hour to find the cat in the tree so we could shoot it. We finally found it and got it down to the dogs. I took a little video with Mark's camera but didn't realize it was running for a couple seconds so there is some colorful language on it. I took some pictures with it and so did Mark so hopefully he'll put some up. A lot of guys have trouble catching bobcats but when a guy is packing a dog with brains and speed those little cats can't help but climb or go in the rocks. Billy and Shelly both put a ton of pressure on game. I told Mark that I would really like to try a Billy x Shelly pup even if I have to try and talk Don into leasing her. Hopefully someday I can get it done.

I want to thankyou for all the hardwork you have put into your line of hounds and to thankyou for being my friend.
I had the honor of hunting with Rat and you see his offspring producing coondogs.
Today I mated Ginger with R C and I am excited to see what our nexted generation of hounds will be .
Also I want to thankyou and Pastor Mike for producing Smoke (Shadow and Razor) Pastor Mike made the cross and Tom Started Smoke and myself and Ginger have hunted the hair off of Smoke.
I can see Ginger retiring in the near future and Smoke taking up where Ginger left off.

Mark...Kevin...it's refreshing to hear you two guys actually having a conversation without bashing each other in some way, shape or form....how did you edit out all the cuss words? Nice video...good dog work...doesn't get any better than that.

I'll look forward to that litter Mark...can't hardly wait to see how it turns out. At least you're keeping her properly exercised.

Hurricane...she's looking good and has grown into a nice looking female...if the weather would ever break so we can at least do some training it would help like heck...This has been the coldest, most miserable winter I can remember in a long time...or maybe I'm just getting older and harder to get along with...Nahhhh, it's the weather....

We're looking forward to getting these young dogs going again and until she shows us she can't get it done, everything points to the fact that she'll be a good one.

So Tom, any intersting crosses planned for 2009. Have you guys put a female on Yank yet? If so, what do the papers look like.

I'm excited about my T-Top prospects off of April & Haze. Can't wait to see how those two and their traits mixed & matched up. I have my hopes for a bawl mouth track dog & a chop mouth tree dog...that and a whole lot of Red power. Only time will tell.

Hey Noah, we put Yank on two females this month and hope to see pups in late March. We put him on Pigeon who had the great good fortune to spend the winter in Wisconsin and we also tried to put him on Val. It was colder than cold when they were both in full standing heat so hopefully nature didn't intervene and shut them down before we got it done. We know that Pigeon can do her share to contribute to a good cross and Val has shown that she can also, when mated to Rabble. Yank is double Rat and we all know that Rat and Raven was a good cross and for folks who might not know, Pigeon and Raven are full sisters out of Bomber and Belle but different litters of course. We're excited to see how double Rat and a shot of Rabble, will cross on Pigeon...it should be real interesting...line breeding at its best. We're willing to make the crosses and keep some pups to start and prove one way or another that Yank is a dog that should be considered. Everything looks good on paper but the proof is in the reproduction characteristics he's able to share.

From what I'm hearing, pups out of Haze are showing interest at a young age and have some very good characteristics. I believe that we'll be hearing about pups from good crosses made on Haze and some good females in the not too distant future. It's sometimes hard to get folks to take chances on those new crosses but if we're lining up coon dog to coon dog, it should help make the decision somewhat easier and that's what you guys did with April and Haze.

Tom that is a very impressive list of some nice young Super Star's that will carry Rabble's name on for years to come. He has left his mark in Redbone history and I see know reason why Yank will not carry on where Dad left off.

Your dedication and devotion to the Redbone breed goes with out question. I wish you the best with Yank and the T-Top breeding program. Yank has a very bright future ahead of him. I think you are wise to get him started early in your breeding program.

Best of Luck to You, Dave and Yank this year and in the coming years.

Hay guy's
I took my pup from this cross last night for the first time in a month. He is13 months old only made one den tree and one hollow tree blowen down on the ground. It took about a half an hour to get to him across a large Beaver pond. Not to count it was sleeting an raining and the wind was blowing very cold. He treed as hard as I have ever heard him tree before. My other dog was treed also about two hundred yards from him but he held his tree the whole time.The blow down that he made im not so sure about but it was hollow. The other dogs were trailing on another track but he lead his own track and did'nt pull. I am proud of him he started very young but an ill dog set him back some. He seams to be coming around real good. I hope he is ready for the hunts this Spring He is a very loud an hard tree Dog. He Hunts hard with or with help an goes as deep as he has to go to get struck.

I hope I haven't been bothering you too much by calling you when the dogs are at the tree. lol Saturday night, Chris, Rusty Zook, and I turned 3 Rabble pups loose. Griz, being the youngest at 16 months, Sis, and Case, just under 2, all looked like old veteran coon hounds at the base of the first tree. It had a big lightning strike split up the side and we could see the coon up at the top of the split. Chris took some shots with his camera and I hope he will post them, so you can see what all the racket was on the other end of the phone. I just thought it might break up some of the cabin fever you might be having.

Hey Tim...you don't ever have to worry about bothering me too much with those calls from the woods...there's no way you can bother me too much with that kind of call. When I answered the phone all I could think of was TREED! What a racket and I mean it sounded good. Those dogs were really piling on it and loud to boot.

I love it and especially now this time of year. We haven't been able to do much of anything since mid November and it's driving us up the wall to say the least. Even if it warms up for a few days, it's still going to be tough because we've got so much snow in the woods yet. If it would just pack or open some ground, we'd be able to at least do some training but old man winter has sure been hangin' tough this year.

By the sounds of it, you guys are going to have some fun this spring and summer and by next fall I'd say the coons had better be on their toes. I'll look forward to visiting with you all in May when we head down that way to visit Aaron and to hunt in your zone hunt. It will be fun to see how those pups have grown and maybe even turn loose a time or two with them.

I hope the weather holds for you guys and that you're able to enjoy a few more good nights like what I heard the other night.

As Tim mentioned, here is our go-round from the last night of hide season down here. The coons are pretty sparse but these three drifted out a creek bottom, came on the wood right and slammed it.

One differency with you guys is that you've kept it going forward and in this age of, "Did you get him collected" it is nice to see a dog breeder that understands that if you don't go forward, you are going nowhere. Along those lines, I wish you guys the best with Yank. I hope he can carry on the tradition for you.

Here are three Rabble dogs carrying on the tradition for us Redbone guys down here in SoIA. Grizz (Rabble x Music), Case (Rabble x Val) and Sis (Rabble x Mya)

Looks like it was as much fun as it sounded. We hope to get some of these action shots of some more of these youngsters over the next month or so. It's been awhile since any of them were able to get after a coon but we're sure looking forward to it.

It's funny, we always believed in what we were doing enough to never worry about whether we collected a dog or not, we always expected the next in line to give as good or better than the generations before him. We went so far as to actually give it a try with Rabble but...it didn't work out. I guess that when you don't have anything to fall back on, it provides more incentive to work hard to keep a good thing going through those future generations. Although it sure would be nice to have a straw or two of the old boys, when it comes right down to it, we can show what they were made of instead of having to describe it from memory...

Don't get me wrong, I think it's important to make efforts to keep those old genes handy but I think it's more rewarding to be able to simply reproduce it again and again from something you can get your hands on and pat on the head once in awhile...We'll see how it goes...eh?
