I am going on a different side on this subject, focusing on the breeding side Some claim linebreeding or inbreeding is a cause of these problems , i study these walker bloodlines and very rarely see dogs that i consider true linebred hounds ?
What I see is breeding a Winner to a Winner without looking at traits and just producing a Treeing Walker, before long the breeding becomes stale and mediocre no different than all pure bred dogs that have these problems.
I believe different walker lines are what made the dogs of the sixties to the eighties great, good men breeding there lines and merging with another good line.
For most its just a Walker anymore, box of chocolates with no clear direction, oh wait they do......... Tree! lol
