Years ago I was told UKC quit allowing dogs that were not UKC registered to be on the grounds of the Grand American. At one time there would be squirrel dogs of all breeds, JRT's, fox and deer hounds, bull dogs, hog dogs, curs and just about anything else anyone might want to sale could/would be there on the grounds. What are the guide lines now regarding this?

Reason I am asking there use to be some guys that would have some real nice American Bull dog puppies for sale there every year. Some were real nice catch dogs on hogs. Also made great family/farm dogs. I am in the market for an American Bull Dog like this and was hoping the Grand American was back like it use to be and allowed these dogs back on the grounds for sale. Thanks in advance for your help.

Bull/Pits were stopped a long time ago -

most other dogs are ok if they are hunting style dogs.

not sure what all will be around this year but i would say mostly coonhounds squirrel dogs maybe a few beagles

I hate bull dogs are not allowed on the grounds at the Grand American. I bought a couple one year that were tied out on the chain gang. They were extremely under weight and appeared to not have the best care. Felt bad for them and wanted to give them the chance at what I considered a better life. Those two made the best farm dogs I've ever owned to this day. My kids were young then and those dogs formed a strong bond with the whole family. I would love to have another like either of them.

Perhaps something happened that involved a bull dog for UKC to remove them from the mix of dogs allowed on the grounds...?

Another year I bought a really nice wire haired Jack Russell terrier there at the Grand American. He was a tough little dog but disappeared one day. Never knew what happened to him.
