yadkin river

Just bred a grandson of tom tom to a straight y.r. bred bitch. he's 11 yr. old and don't know if he's still fertile.
as far as jeff goes i've based my breeding program on his grandsire, y.r. tom. last litter went back to him 22 times. every dog in ped. is not titled but every dog in it is or was a coondog.

BLASTER

Edds White oak Zip is a full sister to Merchants Tree Blaster making Yadkin River Blaster Three quarters Merchants Tree Blaster bred. Always been a good solid, accurate dog that goes hunting and takes his tracks as he comes to'em. He's never given any problem with trash. I spent many enjoyable nights in the woods with him. Didn't comp. hunt him because he was so good with pups.

Cindy, thanks for giving the old man the care and attention he deserves and hope you get several more years out of him.

Blaster

You are welcome Jack. I just adorable the old man. He has me wrapped and he gets whatever he wants but he deserves it. He is one heck of a coondog and a perfect gentleman in the woods and in the kennel. I hope we can do a good job carrying his lineage on for years to come.

I know of a GRNTCH grandson to Tom Tom in Maine. Total package hound from start to finish. (I raised him from a pup to GRNTCH.)

Also know of a great grandson in NH. Only pleasure hunted, Yadkin River on the bottom as well. Bout it. wd

I was reading my American Cooner the other day and I saw the "sweet" Jack Dobson in it again. LOL Did you hear the other female my son had out of Hollywood and Taboo got hit and killed? They were the only 2 in that litter.

yea, I heard about little Dixie. Worse part was it was her first trip to the woods after just being purchased by her new owners. That would be a blow to buy a dog and lose it the first night in the woods. Sucks, butlife goes on.
Yea, that dang Amy likes to aggravate me with that "sweet" thing. Heck, Jeanne offered to give me to her but apparently she didn't want me. Too old I guess.
Glad to hear your work has picked up. Hope things keep going good. Hollar at me when you come south.

Little Dixie

Yes we are the ones that purchased Little Dixie. It was an awful tradegy she was killed. The person who hit her did not even stop and just left her where she laid. Makes me sick. We brought her home and buried her in our pet cemetery. She was going to be breed to Yadkin River Blaster this August. It was going to be a great cross.

We are now waiting for Chris's Sweety female to come back into heat so he can breed her to Blaster.

Uncle Bill gave my 2 sons the only 2 pups Taboo had the first time. Here is the other female that we lost in a barn fire last year. This is her ( in the background ) and Hollywood.

I've got a nice male here, a three year old. His 3 gen UKC ped shows GRCH WLDNITECH GRNTCH TRI COLOR TOM TOM, GRNTCH ROCK RIVER STONE and NTCH YADKIN RIVER HANK. I can tell you he's a coondog for sure, out of coondogs. I raised him from a pup, he was a late bloomer but was treeing his own coon early enough for me. I can take him out most any night and get one treed. He's got a huge, huge mouth. Nice clear change over, just a pleasure to hunt with. Doesn't cause any trouble and is quiet in the yard. I'm not competitive at all so he's never been in a Nite hunt but in the right hands I think he would title easily...I just havent pursued it. He's also real handsome, nice build (probably 75 lbs., tight feet, long legs). He's shown me enough enjoyment, and has so many things that I really like that I'd think about breeding him to the right female.

I guess we can thank Jack Dobson ( yadkinriver ) for that , since he is the guy who gave Yadkin River Dixie to my Dad. Between Jack and Dad , Dixie was bred to Chico 8 or 9 times.Dixie and Chico pups ,grand pups and great grand pups are what most of us hunt.

Do you guys think there would be some interest in Yadkin River Tom Tom semen, if there was some available? And if there was some available, how much would a guy expect to pay for a breeding of it?

I would be interested. I like a lot of the traits from the old Yadkin River dogs.

My guess on how much it would cost would be entirely dependent on who owned it and why they had it. For me, the "right" reason to have it would be to get pups out of it. I'd be trading it for a couple choice pups out of the cross.

Ebo

My Axle pup is incredible. He is four months now and that pup is ripe. I had him treeing at 3 months. He will work a track and has opened a few times. When he gets to the tree he wraps his legs around it and digs in with is claws and starts hammering away. He is very loud and you can see his tonsils when he is bawling out because his mouth opens so wide and he has a long bawl. Besides being a great pup in the woods he is a pleasure to be around. He has an excellent disposition and is so smart. I am teaching him to load in the dog box and heeling on the lead. I don't like a dog that drags me thru the woods.

I am going to be taking him out with Blaster soon along with my nine month old Majestic pup that we just got back from the coon pen in SC. Both he and Axle should sound great together in woods becaue they are both very loud when they are treeing.

Cindy
