Keith Bowling and I got a first on Outlaw Cherry Bomb last weekend with 700+
Cherry is a one year old action packed female out of Billy the Kid semen and Moonlight Breanna and I promise you will see her in the winner circle in the future.
Last night I carried Red Rocket to his first hunt since I got him and he had 5 first strikes and four first trees in the bright moonlight and picked up a first place ukc win. Rocket is out of dual gr ch moonlight aftershock and dual gr ch nighty nite amber. He is a 3 year old dog who was previously owned by people who do not competition hunt.....so i bought him from "out behind a barn" and put some hard hunting on him the past few months and really like what I am seeing in him. He is the only male litter mate to John Biggert's Jim Bob dog. He is bred to be a winner and a stud dog. I wish he was a female as that is what I prefer to hunt....but he will make someone a nice competition dog and should finish out to grand with little trouble. If anyone is looking for a top competition prospect with a pedigree stacked top to bottom with big winners....I may sell him....but only to a competition hunter who can give me their word that they will give him the oppurtunity to finish out to gr.nt.ch.
I only bought him to put into a competition hunters hands. he is a top strike dog, quick locating dog and a steady tree dog with no bad habits that I have seen. He is a medium size dog with a nice blocky head and darker than average color and no white. He has an above average track mouth and I would say an average tree mouth for a male. Chop and short bawl on track....long bawl locate and a steady 50-60 bark a minute tree dog. does not chew, jump or dig at tree and have not seen anything ill or agressive out of him towards other dogs. About a medium hunter alone and wide competetive hunter with anything he is hunted with. this dog will score high if the coon population in the area is good. He is a good looking dog with a calm manner around the house but he is all business when you open the dog box. I have hunted several pups and young dogs with him and he is great with them.....shane

I started a dog from this litter,this sure sounds like him,last I heard he was in Indiana or Illinios.I thought D.Johnson owned him.If it's him he started quick and was split treeing when he left here.Is this the dog?

I believe it is the same dog Wade. I like a lot of things about him and the more I hunt him the better he seems to get. I may just keep him and finish him out myself....just have a couple other young prospects that need my attention also. He seemed a little rusty when I first got him up here so he may not have been getting hunted very much but the more we hunt him the better he is looking. He is putting everything together now and making very few mistakes.

I would like to thank everyone who contacted me about Rocket. I really appreciate those who showed an interest in buying him or offering to handle him for me in competition. The truth is....I have decided to keep him awhile longer and send him to a good friend of mine in Wisconsin to get more exposure to different types of terrain up north. He will be hunted and handled in competition while up there and I am confident he will do well up there. Long term, I am not sure what I will do with him....but I want to give him more oppurtunity to develop, finish out, and reach his full potential. This will give me more time to finish out a couple of other young prospects I have been working on.

I am glad to hear you are planning on keeping him for a while to see what ya got. If you were not sending him to Wisconsin, you could have sent him home with me this weekend. Don't know which satellite I will be going to, but hope to get a visit in sometime.

Billy, look on the first page of this thread and scroll down and you will find the pedigrees for Aftershock and Amber....those are his parents.
But in the near future my plans are to send him to Wisconsin after Autumn Oaks with the young lady who won the A.K.C. Ladies World Championship with my Breanna dog. She is going to hunt him in some of the rocky bluff terrain along the Mississippi river in south western Wisconsin and handle him in some hunts up there.

As you may have heard, I was in a very bad wreck last weekend just after leaving Autumn Oaks about 4pm saturday. It was pretty bad and my truck was declared a total loss by the insurance company. I am injured, but not as seriously as I could have been. No broken bones and hopefully no serious long term damage but I will be out of commission for awhile. I was very lucky to have survived this wreck and thank God that I didn't have any dogs in my dog box at the time. I had just dropped Rocket off to Lisa Key at the grounds and delivered a pup that was headed to New York and my box was empty as I left for home. Upon impact my dog box slammed into my toolbox and flew up in the air landing on its back standing straight up and down in the bed of my truck. The only other wreck I have ever been in was when a drunk driver hit me head on in 1992 and I escaped serious injury then as well so I think someone up above must have plans here on earth in the future because both of these wrecks could have easily cut my life short. I had planned to handle dogs in the up coming super stakes and both the UKC and PKC world hunts but I do not think I will be able to do that now. I have a minor surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning and a major back surgery looming in a month or so. I would like to thank all of my friends who have contacted me and wished me well. I think I will be fine and make a full recovery with some time. I wish everyone the best who will be competing in the world hunts and hope to see you all again soon....Shane

Mark, we already know that Bo is from an excellent cross which produced winners and reproducers. Grace is from what myself and many others feel will prove to be one of the best competition cross to come along in a while now....so I have no doubt that pups from those two parents will have super loud mouths and be quick on both ends. while the litter that grace is from is almost all females (7 female and 1 male) almost every female has a loud male dog mouth and are proving to be even quicker strike dogs and as hard a tree dogs as their mother, Breanna. This is a cross which concentrates some of the best competition blood up close in one litter with the traits it takes to win. If you end up making it...I am sure we will hear about them in the future.
I am partners on two of gracie's littermates and we are very pleased with the type of hounds they are making.
Bo isn't as well known as his two famous brothers Greatful Dead Red and Cross Country Duece....but we are going to change that in the future

Yep it starts to get that way richard this is when I sale them give them back to there owners then they win purina races breed days winter classic top twenty world hunt finishes and so on but Bo is just staying here for a while

just saw where Bo's littermate brother Greatful Dead Red just won the Canadian Autumn Open with 1337 1/2 plus points.....after being kenneled for 2 months in Indiana to breed females and get collected at Nevergone.....boy he sure shook the rust off fast!
No doubt that this cross that produced Bo, Red, and Duece is a good one....they can win big, and reproduce winners that have the pedigree and the traits that alot of hunters like in a dog. Quick strike, open mouth track dogs who run with a big loud bawl on track....locate with long dying bawl on tree and flip it to a hard chop and stay put till you get there and have two looking down when you arrive. Rabble Rouser on top....and Outlaw on the Bottom.

Thanks Mark, We trained a few with him , bred a few to him n now he back in them little hills of PA keeping Lee Fit n Trim

Shane had 2 kids off the 13u Baseball All Star Team that i direct wanna go hunting and they said they wanted to bring the 2 best looking dogs in my kennel ( these pups sure loved that night )
