BO
Went to one of my new places to hunt tonight. Its about 2 miles up river from the house and across river from BO;s Bottom that I hunt. It has a spring fed creek that comes under the gravel road and goes almost a mile to the river. I cut Bo down it tonight and he went almost the mile to the river and started swinging back my way in his big loop style. He struck he was still over 700yds in and opened here and there and moved it to my right about a quarter mile then came treed. He was over 1,000yds and I debated riding the gravel road to get closer but decided against it so just struck out to him at a fast pace. That didn't last long as I hit some boggy swamp bottom and it took a while to work my way through it. Finally hit a field and got to cut over 400yds off distance with some easy walking. When I finally got to him he was treed on a big water oak that had a thicket all around it. I stumbled around seemed like 4 ever trying to find a hole up through it to shine the tree and when I found one he was looking at me with both eyes. But he had a lot of vines between me and him and his body was on other side of fork. Spent a lot of time trying to get where I could get a good shot and I never saw him again. Stumbling around I had turned my light out and was looking up and walking trying to see an open hole to the sky and stepped in a dillar hole and down I came. Hit the ground hard and BO went NUTS!! He must have thought that was the fattest dang coon he ever heard hit the ground! If someone would have been with me and unsnapped him at that moment, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be here today. Ole Bo would have done me in before he realized I wasn't a giant coon! I got up and found my light that had flew off my head and hollered at Bo to shut up, but of course he didn't. Finally just gave up on getting this one out to him. He really deserved it and so did I after that hike. We came on out and I followed that trail through the field and saw on my garmin it came out to the road just further down than where the 4 wheeler was. We just stayed on it and right before we hit the road we walked by an old old house. It was an old home site from late 1800's or early 1900's. We hit the gravel road and had went about a 100yds when all of a sudden very cold air hit me and chills ran all over my body. Just as that happened BO lunged forward so hard he liked to jerked me down and he had sucked his tail down between his legs and was spinning around like something had come up behind us so I spun too. All this happened in a split second. Nothing was there, nothing. I've never been worried in the dark and don't mind ghost, as long as I see them but I don't like NOTHING sneaking up behind me, living or dead! We went on up the road but Bo kept looking back and so did I! Lol! Poor Ole Bo always walks proud, with his tail up but the rest of the walk to the 4 wheeler he kept it sucked down tight. Whatever it was better stay up in that old house, because if it comes out and Bo trees it I will surely knock it out to him! Good Hunting!!
