We have a few field trials we put on just for fun and to raise money for the clubs. Most guys attend the trials to support clubs and socialize with other hunters. But they judge the ability of their hounds by how they perform in the woods, alot more than by how they do at field trials.

Dustin

When you get time, make sure you call old Bill. You can learn a lot from him. There is many good english breeders out there. that we all can learn from. Just don't get kennel blind. One of Bill favorite saying was "Its easy to get to the top, but it is harder to stay there".

Thank you Terry.
It's very flattering to have another hunter consider me as "being on top". However, I will never look at myself or my hounds as if we have reached the top. I just want to do my best to keep climbing the mountain and improving the hounds as best I can. I have always felt that if someone thinks they have reached the top of the mountain, then there is nowhere left to go but down.

Jess are sitting down? It took me awhile to think this over because of all the people that have been around in the present and the past. I came to the conclusion that JESS KINCAID is the man that deserves the credit to the place I'm at with the caliber of hound I hunt today. Your knowledge of the style of each dog in the past and present is incredible when it comes ot evaluateing the dogs I hunt today. The history of these dogs is the most important part of maintianing the bloodline for years to come.
Thankx
Brian

Thanks Guy's

Brain/Dustin
Your were both Top Notch Hunters and People Long Before we got to know each other. However if you feel that I have helped in some way that's Great. I thank you, For the chance to pass along things that I have learned.
Now the Very best way to tell me how you really feel is to send Gambler&Throttle to me. LMAO !!!!!!!!!

I could have added Ten names to the list of Teachers and Mentors that I have learned from. Breeders from the English/Plot/Leopard/ and as Bad as I hate to Admit it the Walker breed..<just kidding you Walker guy's> Have all spent many hours hunting and talking dogs with me. Almost everyone I ask was willing to share their idea's and opinions with me.
I have been Lucky, My profession has allowed me to travel all around the USA for years. I have had the chance to see some hounds that people call "Legends" in the woods. Some were Great, others were Not. Same with the men hunting them. I learned what I could from each.
I would like for the Big Game board it's Self to be Teacher/Mentor for all who read it. This is the Day and the Age that we can exchange thoughts and Ideas in a flash. That can be great for us all.
For the Big Game page to become the place where those Ideas and that information is found. We need to conduct ourselves as Gentlemen and Keep our differing opinions Civil. If we can do these things All the Teachers mentioned in this Thread can share their knowledge with everyone who reads or writes those thoughts. If we fall into the Trap of Bickering rather than Discussing. Everyone has lost the chance to learn from a person they never got to hunt with But always wanted to. This is not to be Decided by Anyone but Will be Decided by Everyone.

Jess

Elmo Overton helped me out the most, and at the time did not even know me from Adam. Most of the help was by the way of e-mails and phone conversations. Elmo lives about 200 miles away from me, but helped me out anyway. I consider him a good friend and enjoy getting together with him and hunting when our schedules allow.
