My grade dogs have a long line of paper as well, and it not only goes back through a lot of great big game hounds but through a lot of great men who chased that game. Those southern Utah bred lion hounds had to trail on dry ground after an animal that was long gone and put down plenty of tracks. You said you wouldn't feed a grade hound, well I wouldn't feed a purple ribbon bred dog of any color that wouldn't do what the hounds of old would do on dry ground, and that's pound out a ****** dirt track from daylight til dark and still be pushing it in the moonlight........

I, myself as I stated in an earlier post feed quite a few grade hounds. One of my best is not papered. I have a variety of both. I just wanted to make a statement on why registering a dog can be important for generations to come. I like yourself require the same from my hounds as the houndsmen before me. The same as many generations before me did there hounds that I inherited, including alot of old time knowledge. You wont see alot of titled dogs in my pedigree's or the flavors of the month/year. Just a old time bloodline preserved.

Ike

I got skin as tough as my dog’s pads. I didn't mean to offend you in anyway, the comment was certainly not directed at you. Perhaps you are mad at UKC?? Or jsut mad? I really don't think any of these comments or posts are or were directed your way. If I was the guy started the post I would try one of your pups, he stated papers mean nothing to him, but I think you have upset him?? He is not that far really compaired to where some of my dogs head.

But since the “PAPPERED” can is open, if you have a better way to keep track of what you bred and the crosses you made please share, I am not some snot nosed punk that just happened into the dog world, saying I got the best and know all, I have been at it as long as you or longer. I am breeding for quite a few of the same traits as you, but I am just doing it on a documenting paper that is accepted by most hound hunters. It costs pennys compared to what I invest in a hound over a 10 yr span, plus my memory isn’t as good as it use to be for various reasons. I was quite a hell raiser in the day and sometimes still am.

As far as my dogs I wasn’t offering you one, or trying to sell you one, or anyone else for that matter but I will toot my own horn and say that the dogs and pups I have sold to folks or “gave” to them there packs started to darken and they phased out what they had, papers or no papers there 400 bucks was cheap for what they were getting, it took me well over 20 yrs to get the same thing I am giving away at that price.

I think you maybe more upset with yourself than anyone, seems you have been breeding for a while and at times you almost sound like a few of my own relatives , you from the Western VA area, relatives here in WV, VA, if so, we may be kin.

Rocklynn Phillips,

Nope, never been upset with myself only with people who like to breed bash, run others dogs down and blow themselves out of the water. Believe me when I say I wouldn't change anything I've done, the dogs I've hunted or the people I choose not to be around. I've been at it awhile as well, watched this game for nearly thirty years, have been a sportsmen advocate most of my life and written over a hundred magazine articles, had photos on the cover of Outdoor life. Nope, I'm pretty happy with who I am and what I've accomplished.

I'm not trying to sell a pup or dog to anybody, and I have NO room for one of yours or anybody else that is peddling them. Papers are good to help the memory, and I have the history of my hounds written down back twenty or thirty years, who they came from and some of what they did. I just get tired of people shooting off their mouths like they have the real deal and nobody else does--REALLY! Do any of you really believe that you have the real deal and none of the rest of us do?

The guy that started this post ask for a faster English dog, and rather than somebody pointing him in the right direction others recommend a plot or a walker. He didn't ask for faster dogs? or what breed has faster dogs? but rather who has some fast English dogs. I guess everybody does believe they have the real deal and nobody else does huh??????

Have a good day...............

Ike

You can take any bloodline or breed you want but the dog is only going to be as good as the dogs you hunt it with. Ihunt the old Bert Oney Turkey Ridge Racket. Had great success with it for the past twenty plus years.

Would you care to explain a little further?
I've seen pups grow up and do way better than the dogs they were hunted with.

Every pack has a lead dog that the rest of the pack is based off of. If you have a young dog that is outperforming it, then the young dog should replace it. The majority of the time if you raise a young pup with a pack of trash runners then that pup is going to end up being a trash runner. It's that simple. Just as simple as the fact that a dog is only as smart as it's handler.

Sorry Lance but I'm not gonna say who the breeder was. Its possible those two dogs were just culls and were not reflective of the dogs he hunted and bred. However, at the time this guy was breeding and advertising and the two guys I know that bought the pups were disappointed to say the least. Both of those guys were veteran lion hunters who knew how to locate and run down an open ground tom lion. I started both of those dogs after they gave up on them because i was of the belief a man could make a different, and with a lot of time and patience I did get both of those dogs hunting...........
