Special thanks to Jeffrey Robinson for allowing me to own such a fine female. I have purchased Change and plan to breed her to Swag when she comes in heat. For those of you that know me you know that I raised and trained her brother, NiteCh 'PR' Pigg River Cyanide Clyde. He was a very nice coon treeing sucker but I never bred him. Needless to say I am looking forward to this one.

Simon, you are very welcome. I would not sell Change to just any body. I know you will treat her right and I feel like she will throw good pups when bred to Swag. I look forward to this cross and what they can accomplish.

Poor Curly was put on babysitting duty while I cleaned out their lots this weekend. All three of the dogs in this picture are Swag pups out of two separate females.

Curly is 8 months old and has only been to the woods at night twice. On his second night he was 0.69 miles away from Swag running something. He fell off of it and started located and would bark a time or two up but eventually we had to round him up. He is gamey pup but he can FLAT MOVE a track. This fall should be lots of fun.

Had a good hunt last night. Curly and Change got deep in a hurry. Curly got the track going and they managed to get them bushed. Curly just turned 8 months old and has been to the woods only 3 times in his life. He moves around like a rocket in the woods. I was by myself and had my hands full, otherwise I would have gotten a few better pictures.

Ken, thanks for the kind words. I live in Virginia, not NC but Swag is making a mark up and down the east coast. I have been very fortunate to own, raise, train and finish some very nice hounds. Swag is just one of them.

Lots of people try to ride on the shirt tail of those before them. Many people are wannabe breeders and hunters. A real good, once in a lifetime hound can win by treeing coons north to south, east to west. As I am sure you know, a true dog man can recognize that. Despite what many people think, rarely the ability and breeding match each other. You may have a bang up coondog that is just out of some local stuff. On the other hand, you might have a dog that is all grand that can tree coons but usually gets schooled by coondogs. On the rare chance when lightning strikes and the ability and genetics match up is when you take action. That is what these dogs and those before them represent.

Swag is a coondog born from coondogs and is doing his part to reproduce more coondogs. Swag pedigrees represent the foundation of the treeing walker breed.

Remember, coondogs are BORN, not made!

Simon, I believe Outback1 was referring to Dual Grand Trackman's Spare Change. He was the one who bought her for a guy in Mo. and brought her to NC and bred her to Hardwood Bean. He is responsible for making the cross that Clyde and Little Change came from and he is also the man I bought Old Change from.

That Bean x Dual Grand Trackman's Spare Change cross was a good one! It's a shame the other pups out of that cross didn't find their way into good hands or they could have really made some noise. I have enjoyed hunting two of them. They put coons in trees!

Had another good hunt last night. Stylish Poison Curly is 8.5 months old. He has been to the woods at night 4 times now and he is proving to a quick learner. He is wilder than a mustang, moves around in the woods like a rocket and runs to catch. He will run just about anything that runs from him, has enough gear for 3 dogs.

He has one heck of a nose on him for a pup. He treed this coon that the old female never barked on. He is a freak. The best part about him, he is laid back big baby in the kennel.

Mr. Newsome sent me a video of one of Curly's littermates split from their momma about a week ago. This cross is going to make some noise!

We hit it pretty hard this past week. I got some good videos of our hunts but I have to figure out how to post them. You can see them on my facebook page also.

Swag punched another check bringing his PKC lifetime earnings over $1300. He trailed past the dogs that were treed on the first drop and split with the coon by himself. After recasting he slipped away from the cast and went 0.94 miles alone . He came treed again with 4 minutes left in the hunt. I didn't have to tree him for the win. When we finally got the other dogs rounded up and got around to him he had been treed for about an hour and 20 minutes. He had a double.

I have been hunting Curly alone lately. He is 9 months old and wild as a mule. He treed a double late Tuesday night by himself. On Friday night he covered 2.04 miles completely alone before we finally could get near enough to catch him up. He was just hunting through the country. He hit a few tracks here and there but couldn't do much with them.

One the last drop of the night, he went up a small branch, struck, barked three times and hushed. By the time we got up the mountain to him we found out why. He caught this wild mountain coon on the ground. That is almost unheard of around here in the mountains.

A man that was hunting with me that night remarked that he had only ever seen 2 dogs catch one on the ground in our area. He went on to say that they were both in the back of the truck that night. They were Swag and Curly.

His entire litter is like this. They are all wild hunting, lightning fast independent pups. They are going to make some noise.

Curly is coming along. He is a wild pup, gets through the country alone like an old dog, loves a track and will tree some if he's sure about it. In several months he is going to really be something. One thing about this pup that really keeps me interested in him is that he moves around in the woods like a rocket weather he's running something or just hunting.

He is proving that he is putting tons of drive, ability, heart and independence in his pups. His pups all have common traits- they are LIGHTNING FAST independent track-minded dogs that like to get through the country alone. They have impressive mouths and can move around like a rocket.

If you are tired watching that Garmin screen get painted a bright color by your dog's track while it wallers around like it's in a hole and just wishing that dog of yours could actually run it like the dogs 20 years ago then Swag will put it in them.

If you are getting tired of being embarrassed when your dog shows back up to the cast and you wish you could get more exercise to work off those holiday meals, Swag will put it in them.

If you are tired of overpriced vet bills because your dog breaks it's neck to get to another one every time the other dogs in your cast opens their mouth then Swag will put it in them.

If you are tired of the scenery in your hunting regular spots and you want to explore places you have never seen before on the way to get your treed dog then Swag will put it in them.

Getting some great reports on Swag's pups.

One owner turned down several big offers for his pup including one for $5000. This pup isn't 6 months old yet. He is already running and treeing. He is out of the Swag x Witch cross. His name is HEAVY.

Pups out of the Swag x Tess cross are going to be something very special. Every pup in the litter of 5 is doing it right. They are all wild hunting, track-minded independent pups. Mine is WILD. It's nothing for him to be over a mile alone and he has been that way since I first took him hunting at 8.5 months old. They are just now 11 months old. You will see them in the magazine one day.

Swag is proving to put tons of natural ability into his pups. Check out his new ad in the January issue of American Cooner on page 53!

Curly is coming along great. He moves like a rocket through the woods weather he's running something or not. He is a wild hunting independent pup. Once he matures a little more, he has the tools to be a big winner if I can get him a good shot.

Last night I turned him loose with an old female. They went down the hollow and got split up. Curly got struck and started it down the hollow. Then he turned on the fan, like he was almost pulling hair. He left the female in the dust. She eventually caught up with him and she backed him. They had a big boar coon. It's the middle of January so I guess it's that time of year!

On a good note, it's not just Curly, his entire litter is like this. Just try to buy one!

Change has been looking GREAT lately. Change has been hunted for the last 2 weeks every night and she's starting to get back in shape. I put her in a hunt Friday night. She took a little minus in the first 3 minutes of the hunt on a judgement call and still nearly came back to win in the end. The judge minused her for being 5 feet off the tree on the first tree, on the tree she had been treed on with the other 3 dogs. They knew she was the one to beat when she trailed past two of the dogs obviously treed, loaded up and came treed and they pulled to her. After that, we made a circle and then she had a coon by herself. She was only dog that split all night. The other 3 dogs stayed tied together the whole time.

She has treed around 20 coons in the last 2 weeks. We'll get her finished. She's hitting her stride. I am excited about breeding her to Swag. She should be in heat in a month.

Saturday night I took Swag out for the first time in 3 weeks. I've been hunting two pups out of Swag and have been letting him enjoy the good life. I couldn't make the deadline for the early round of a PKC double header so I left about 8:30 and took him for a little "warm up" I turned him loose and he had one treed shortly about 300 yards from the truck. I recast him, he went nearly 2 miles on foot and treed another one. Luckily he was only about 0.75 miles from the truck and I was able to get a little closer to him. He had a big one treed there.

I caught the late round of the PKC double header. Swag slipped away from them, hit a track from Saturday afternoon lol. He finally came treed and had a coon alone. Recast him and he struck, trailed past another treed dog, went about 200 yards past the treed dog and locked it down again. The hunt ended and I didn't have to tree him for the win but he had another coon. He picked up another PKC cast win and looked great doing it. We had a good hunt.

This win gets him to over $1400 in lifetime earnings and $90 on the year.

Thank you to everyone who has called to book a breeding to Swag. It looks like he will be bred to 5 different females (Dual Grand, GrNiteCh, NiteCh's) before the end of May if everything goes as planned. He is going to be busy this spring. I will post more details as the females come in heat.

I still hunt him regularly. Monday night he put on a good show. He snuck away from one of his pups and worked out an old feeder track and treed him. In the meantime his pup (Curly) was through the country 0.75 miles alone. Swag did a good job on this single and he got an early Valentines treat for it.

His pups are nice and he has proven to put tons of natural drive, brains, accuracy and independence in his pups. He is a born track dog and loner. If your female is weak on tracking ability then take a look at Swag. It seems that his pups have been outstanding track dogs from a variety of crosses.

Come see him go before you breed to him. I can give you many references on his pups. There is a reason you rarely see one for sale. He has been a blessing to own, train and hunt.
