I have been looking for a couple hound exactly like the ones yall are talking about. I've spent a lot of money and time, tried a bunch of so cakes "coon dogs" then kept looking. In my opinion competition hunting has ruined breeding. Everybody wants a dog that runs in a dead sprint for a mile before ever hunting, by the time they open you can even hear them. I want a dog that takes the first track he comes to and takes it to the tree and has the coon when i get there. I would greatly appreciate it if any of yall know where i could get my hands on a pup outta dogs like this. I hunted when i was a kid all the way up to 22 years old then joined the army in 2001 and sold everything i had. Really wanna get back into it but i just can't stand to hunt these dogs out there now. Hunters now days will pay 1500 for a pup with big name papers, funny thing is i ain't never seen papers tree a coon. Honestly most of the comp food I've been out with the last 4 years are sick getting idiots. Dog feed is too expensive to waste on dogs like that.

Buster was a black&tan, he mother, was a grand daughter, to set-em-up-ace and great grand daughter to a litter mate sister, to set-em-up- rex allen, he treed coons nothing else, could even smell, they, did not know it was there. He ran a cold track with his head in the air, and it took him longer to tree a cold coon, simply because the coon had more time to travel. He trailed a coon one night on crusty frozen snow, and treed on a tree, 40 foot from were the coon was up he missed it by that much, 20 degrees out cold night i thought he did great getting it that close.
