Last of Feb
Dave loaded up Yank and Moose last night and headed out. It was a pretty nice night temperature wise but a full, bright moon and still 15-16" of snow on the ground. Turns out that he had a pretty good night...treed 3 on the outside.
Moose and Yank...
Last drop, he cut Moose alone. He hunted deep, struck a decent track and went over the ridge. Got around and found him treed hard.
What's a weekend without a little pup training...eh?
Show Time Coon Stopper...(Nite Ch. PR T-Top Yankee and Dual Ch. PR T-Top Dark Angel.)
Crook...(Nite Ch. PR T-Top Yankee and PR T-Top High Voltage Val
We received our litter pick stud fee pup last Sunday and after a week of learning the ropes, we decided to introduce him to the coon today for the first time. He's 15 weeks old and these next pictures are a nice display of a real good progression for the first time face to face with a coon...and by himself.
We call this guy, T-Top Crazy Cuz
First look...
Closer look...
Meanin' business...
On the wood...
Yank and Moose looked good last night and with a break in the weather, it won't be long and they'll be back in hunting shape.
Crook and Show Time (Stopper) are both looking very good. We ran a 4-wheeler track around today and made the drag down the wheel track. It's easy for young dogs to just run the tire track once they get a head of steam but at some point they have to realize that there's no coon scent and double back to find the cut in point. These two pups ran it hard, blew it by about 20 feet but immediately came back around, cut it right and located and treed hard....and I mean treed hard...and loud. These are nice prospects, and showing very good progress...in fact, they're about ready for the woods. If we were on bare ground right now instead of deep snow...they'd be tagging along right now and I believe we'd be looking at training pictures of them on the wood at night with Yank and Moose...it's going to be a fun ride with these two young males.
The little male we're going to call Cuz...what can I say? He's just 15 weeks old and he furred up like a big dog and was treeing hard today. He found that coon and the hair stood up on his back like he was mad and it wasn't long and he had talked himself into going face to face with a big coon and then sat and treed like he meant it.
Cuz is out of Yank and a female that shows Rat as her grand sire on one side and Pete as her grand sire on the other side....good stuff or what?
You'll hear the names of these pups again somewhere down the road.

Unrealistic expectations are a roadblock to success, judge your dogs by what they are ready to give not by what you wish they'd do.
