Wish me luck Tom.

Friday night I'll be putting Silk (Rabble and Angel) in our redbone sectional here in Greenville. I've been getting her out quite a bit and I hope she's ready (actually me more than her)!

Here's from the other night with my younger female Sadie.
Silk's with the red collar.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Take care, Chris

Good luck!

I wish you all the luck in the world Chris, it's a great sport and just takes a bit of learning to get used to it and settled down enough to not shoot yourself in the foot.

The best is to just call her for what you know she's doing and don't call her because someone else called their dog. She's a sensible young hound and might surprise you with strange company around her.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Thanks Tom....

.............I'll keep that in mind. I just got back in from taking Silk and my male Griz out for one last warm up before Friday. They went a long way but ended at the edge of a huge swamp. I think the coon went for a swim and they weren't too happy about it. Had me a nice looooong walk back from there too! : )

Oh well, I guess I needed to get in shape too.

Take care, Chris

PS- I mistakenly said Sadie was in the red collar when it was actually Silk.

Silk

I thought she looked an auful lot like Silk when you said it was Sadie

We have to take the good nights with the bad...that's hunting...eh?

Winter takes a toll on lots of folks...me included. I've been walking the hill over and back and it's about a mile and a half and at least half the walk is uphill and steep. It's never easy to get back into shape and harder the older we get but...it's sure worth it to put the effort in so that we can keep following these hounds.

Chris Snyder,

We are doing well. Not hunting to hard, not many places to hunt. we have a young dog or two we are working on.

Wild Willie would be a pretty interesting cross on sid. Lots of rusty in that one. To bad we don't live closer.....lex and pigeon are both in heat.....that would bring sid in for sure.

Rico does look like lexus. same type body style. I saw rowdy when i was up there but i can't remember much about him....pretty good sized dog.

I sent the papers to aaron......next time you talk to him ask him if he got them. I just named him Death Row Rico but I guess you could stick "clifford" in there....

shadow is due in 12 days and I will be doing A.I. on lex tomorrow. Its a zoo around here right now......but it's all good.

talk to you later.

Pictures

Nice pictures Buck, Haze must be getting a little more photogenic with age...eh? He used to be tough to get a picture of around a tree but it looks like he doesn't worry so much about it anymore.

Dave went last night and Tuesday night but I didn't get a chance to visit with him yet to see how it went. It has been very dry around here and tough going.

Yank had been mating Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Hill Top Shelly 3 days in a row starting last Sunday and the rest of the time, he's digging out of the pen to go and stand by her kennel. I put him back in with her and she put the fangs on him a couple of times and it seems like he's finally over her

We'll roll the Moose out tonight and tomorrow night, he's behind as far as being in shape...but he's close to being able to compete...a little rain and/or moisture would sure help.

Friday night...

We took Moose for a hunt last night...one good drop...one that ended up in a blow down, brush pile.

Moose always looks good...on the wood...

Coon...

Moose is very close to being ready for competition and could probably hold his own right now. A few more alone nights in the woods and he'll be something tough to deal with and will open some eyes.

Leinie has 9 pups on the ground out of Moose that are 6 days old today. Don't know the mix of males and females yet...I'll know later today.

What does the pedigree on the Moose X Leinie pups look like? Are you going to take him to Hebron for the Red hunt? Someone needs to give the Professor and the Big Belgian a run for their money this year!

Pedigree

The pedigree below is for Yank but he is a full brother to Leinie only 9 months younger than her, so you can just change his name for her name and you'll have her full pedigree.

This pedigree is actually for a full brother to Moose but is the same for him so...

The degrees are not updated, these papers were from before Sally finished and there are more finished dogs on Rabble Rouser's list now too.

This is the first time we have personally been able to do a double Rabble Rouser cross, which puts old Rat in the pedigree 3 times. This is a nice cross with Sally and Zach and some others in there, which seems to have been a nice cross when we put Rabble Rouser on Sally.

We may try to take in the Red, White and Blue hunts this year but we'll have to see if Moose is ready before we toss our nickel into the pot with him.

Saturday night

Took Moose out for a couple of drops tonight and had a pretty good hunt.

First track and tree...

Second track and tree...

It was a fun night although in a couple of pictures you can see that da Moose found something nasty to roll in before he treed the coons...whew...what a stinky mess that was. It was pretty hard to praise him up knowing I was going to wear that stink the rest of the night until we got home and I got a shower...oh well...we do what we gotta do...eh?

Moose hunts out pretty good and seems to cover the ground without just lining out in a straight line...that's good. He will still stand on his head now and then but...overall, he's a pretty nice young hound already...I like it!

Leinie's whelp date. 6.2.2006 and add Nite Champ to both hers and Yanks papers.

Leinie

Leinie's whelp date is 6/2/06 so she's just coming 4 years old.

When we load up the dogs, she's at the gate wanting to go, even with a box full of pups. At least she is back to looking like the supreme athlete that she is instead of like she had swallowed a watermellon

I'm glad to know that my dogs aren't the only ones that like to roll in stinky stuff. I think Lexus could be on a dead run and just slide through it and keep right on going......and never miss a step.

Saturday night

Dave took Yank to the RQE at Wanamingo MN last night and had a pretty good night placing 4th in the hunt and qualifying Yank for this year's World Hunt.

Congratulations Dave and Yank

Since we were putting Yank up on the bench, I thought we may as well drag Moose out and see how he'd handle it...not bad.

I don't have much patience to show a dog anymore but Moose and maybe Yank too, I think could win now and then. Both these young hounds are put up right. Yank is getting hard but Moose needs just a little more work to get back into shape like he was last fall.

Moose

Hey Richard...he's a stud for sure. He has the mouth and tree style to go with his good looks and with a little more maturity he'll be a tough draw for anyone out there. It's like I said, I'm not much to show anymore but he's worth putting up there and with a little more work...who knows...he may be Dual Ch. material.

Yank is getting in pretty good shape...he has a few more pounds to lose and I think he'll be hard enough for summer hunting and the same can be said for Moose. We're looking forward to Redbone Days this year if for no other reason than to catch up with some folks and renew some friendships. We always hope that our dogs will give a good showing but...we take what we get just like everyone else so we'll see how things play out for the rest of the summer.

The Look

Have you ever seen a more intense look in Topdog's face? I think he is on a mission this year to hit the woods harder than ever, and with a nice young prospect like Moose, I can't blame him!

Thanks, Buck!! He stayed out of trouble and split treed with the meat. The walkers were about 75 yards away with no meat and he kept the lead after that. Great cast, great judge, great guide!! All around good hunt!!

King Richard-I might have to nominate you for Redbone Hunter of the Year award. Nice job of finishing Freddy and Sally!!

Check out the difference in "the looks". One is having fun and the other is "on a mission". I can't wait for June. Thanks, but I am just trying to stay in shape and keeping in practice while I wait for Da Moose to come back South. He will have Buck worn out and crying for help in 2-3 months. I will be standing by. It is so easy when you are hunting dogs like Sally, Freddy and Ranger. You just go along, stay out of trouble and stay close. They will pull one out of the air before the night is over. Uh Oh, did I just give my secret away. I figure Moose will be that type of dog by this October.

What??

What are you guys talking about...what "look".

That's called being "serious"...and it rubs off on the dog...

It took years of training to develop that "look"...darned near have it perfected...eh?

Hey King Richard you need to get in line for the Moose. I have been watching and waiting for this hound to come south for a time. I am hoping Buck puts on a few pounds this summer and will want me to follow the Moose. From what I can tell, I would say most would jump at the chance.
Tom, I don't see a thing wrong with the look. You know I think that is the first time I have seen you in a picture. Everyone knows King Richard. Who came up with that name for you Richard?
