I am new to the board and I am looking for a well started female do you have anything? Dave of Lakeland Kennels told me to check with that you had a litter of pups coming. I really don't want a puppy I want one thats ready to be singled out. But I may have to settle for one.

P.S. It looks like you have a great line of hounds going here. This Roofus hound sounds and looks real good.

Jr., females don't usually show until about 3 weeks before whelping. That is why I like to see the dogs hooked up. Then, I know what day to expext pups. I am hoping she got stuck, it should be a great cross.

No SIR.. Roofus isn't For Sale at any price he will die here...

If anyone tries to to contact me via cell phone I am out of service until Monday. We came to camp however you can contact me here.... We will be leaving 5:30 am on Monday I have to work monday. I was hopping to turn a hound loose but thats not gonna happen it is way to FOGGY.

Dave I sure hope Gypsy stuck too. I sure wish I could have seem them tie so I would know for sure... JR

I would not have sold Roofus but he was too much of a dog for me to hunt. He should be a great reproducer some day, something that doesn't come along every day.

I hope to get at least 100 pups on the ground out of him. I am still hoping to have him drawn. I have a hard time thinking that the cost is worth it. But like a friend of mine "Ken" told me. "Well JR its like this 40 years from now when you wish Roofus was still around it will be worth it".
I think more of Roofus than any hound that I have ever owned and I have owned some dandy's. I let my Oney stuff slip away and don't plan on ever letting that happen this time. As long as I am able to hunt I plan on hunting something out of Roofus. I really believ in my heart Roofus has alot to offer the English bred. It depresses me that I don't get to hunt as much as I would like to. I know without a doubt he can become a Grand Nite Champion with ease. But he can't do it sitting at home in his kennel... I have tried to hunt him in the bigger local hunts to prove a point but I may have to be like some of these other guys and take to a hunt of few hounds. But to me that isn't fair to him. With that being said I hope to get him in some hunts this year.

lol ya that the same one i posted dont know were it went.id like to get together for a hunt sometime the ole ginger dog had alot of that junior blood in her they started good for me i let that blood get away from me and buddy in texas are planning a cross to get some of that back.he was the breeder of ginger

Had a great night of hunting with Blu last night coon were moving very well 4 dens and on the outside Videos and pics posted later. Blu done a oustanding job on the last chase he was slow to strike but treed 1st ahead a NTCH female. Very Proud stay tuned for more info.

I am having problems uploading my pics and videos. On the last chase it lasted for nearly an hour Through the back waters of a beaver dam and trr tops were they had been logging. Blu got ahead of NtCh Hard Wood Pepper in all that mess and absoutely blew to top out of the tree and yes he treed first @ only 8 months old he is looking very good. We shoot it out to him and he went nuts over it. It felt good to put fur in his mouth for the first time... Let me tell ya he is Loud they treed up in a holler and he was flat ROARING!!!

John Mantanoa of Texas that used to own Ginger called me and ordered a pup out of Roofus. I may still be interested in getting that female if she is still avalible. First things first I have to get to NC to go on a hunt with Randy he has a super nice female he is wanting to breed to Roofus. But yeah I am willing to go on a hunt with you too. This late litter of pups out of Roofus are really doing well... Keep in touch. JR

Just another note about last night's hunt. I noticed Blu was doing alot of winding last night that really got my attention. Also we had a heavy frost on last night and he done a heck of a job trailing... If nothing happens he should make a dandy hound. Where he is lacking right now he is quick about striking but once he strikes he can move a track real well he looked real good in the water and tree tops... JR

An 8 month old pup has not had the experiance to know where to look for a coon. That will come with time and experiance.

Junior, the first thing I always bred for is intelligence. I know Roofus is pretty smart. Roofus is only half of the genes, the female has to do her part.

Is your female going to have pups?

Last nights hunt

Had a good hunt last night made two drops treed two on the outside. Blu done ok. On second drop chase was a long one they went almost out of hearing to where we could barley hear them treed took us over an hour to get them Blu was still there treeing. Put more fur in his mouth that will probably be the last one for a while. He has now had three shot out to him I don't want to spoil him. I am one not to feed my hounds alot of coons.. They were moving good it was damp kinda warm night just a little to windy at times. Blu just turned 8 Months old 4 days ago. He sure is showing great potential but I don't want to burn him out either. Last night he was little bit tighter on the ground then before. But when they fell treed last night he drowned out Pepper. If it hadn't been for him on the last drop we wouldn't have been able to hear Pepper. Blu also has a beautiful huge bawl mouth with one heck of a dying locate.
