I seem to be a magnet for that.....I just do what I have always done and it brings it out in spades from certain people!!!
Life is too short and I have too much work to do to let a bunch of wannabe porch yappers hold back the big dogs from running. I hunt real coon dogs....in real competition hunts all over this country and I win as much as anyone else leading a redbone these days...and I have hardly ever run into any of these "internet forum hunters" anywhere but in cyberspace where their dogs are always better than mine.
I have a plan...I laid it out in detail a couple of years ago
for everyone who was interested. it got some laughs and some oh ya, id like to see you prove that comments...
But my plan is working. I have reached a few of my goals already and am well on the way to seeing others come to fruition. I know exactly where I am on my plan and what I need to do next...and I am going to do it. I don't search the whole country and buy a dog someone else made and then start winning with it. That approach is faster and easier to come up with a winner...but less satisfying to me. No, I plan out crosses with my team and we make those crosses and then I raise a pup from that cross and I start it, train it, and then win with it. And I get great satisfaction from being very good at that. When you make a cross and train your own....you cant count on luck. you have to have some skill and experience....and a record of success to be fairly certain that you can plan...breed...train...and end up with a winner. Anyone with some money can pour over thousands of dogs for sale across this country that someone else has already poured the hard work into and "buy" a dog they can title. Then, they can slap their name on it or change its name to their kennel name and take all the credit for that dog...but the breeder and the trainer were the two most important people in that dog becoming great.....not the buyer!
I have never made a redbone cross as a breeder, or bought a redbone pup that I raised and trained up to an adult that did not make a coon dog and obtain a hunt title....not a single one in the 25 years I have been hunting redbones. Now maybe I got lucky on the first one....or two....but after that....people should start to admit....maybe I know what I am doing and maybe I know a thang or two about a thang or two when it comes to breeding, training, and competition hunting.
I don't say this to brag....I say this because of all the doubt and half truths and outright lies and rumors that a small group of even smaller .....people who haunt this redbone forum continually perpetuate about me.
I could care less what they think...but do care what the majority of good redbone people think...because to reach my goals....I need many of those people and I don't want there to be a doubt in their mind about me, my dogs, my character, or most importantly....my intentions within this breed.
I put my money where my mouth is in all aspects of what I do in this breed. I help lots and lots of people in the breed and I am so very greatful to those who have helped me in the past, present, and in the future.
I am very passionate about my dogs, training, competition hunting and my future plans for all of the above. I take every aspect of it very seriously....and some people know this and jab me and push my buttons and gang up on me until I get enough of it and tell them what I really think of that sort of thing. I am only human...my dad raised me to be proud of who I am and stand up for what I think is right. I have been given a few time outs on this forum in the past for standing up for what I think is right and defending myself and my dogs on here...and even though I may have been a little sharp in my comments while being attacked from several in this gang of jealous wannabes....I took my time out and tried harder the next time I got on the board to ignore them and stick to the plan and keep my eye on the prize down the road. Its hard when you love your dogs and they are such an important part of your life....to sit back and remain silent while mean spirited jealous trouble makers constantly make negative veiled comments about your dogs or you by describing certain hunts, crosses, or repeating your previous comments word for word....but without saying your name or your dogs name. They constantly do this so people know its me or my dog they are talking about...then they fill the post with lies, rumors or half truths to make me or my dog look bad....then when I say that's not true and lay out the facts....they get back on the post and say...."nobody said you or your dogs name so how do you know we are talking about you or your dog?" Really??? when my phone starts blowing up with texts from friends who read this board telling me about some post that can only be about me from the details these idiots posted....I think most people know who they are talking about.
I guess they think that is slick and it keeps them from being banned off of the forum....but I wonder how it fairs in the court of public opinion?
I hope the good honest people in this sport and in this breed will judge me on my merits and accomplishments and hard work....rather than the lies of a few ruthless, jealous, and small minded trouble makers who stalk me relentlessly on this forum....shane
