MASON, BO, STORMY

Had a nice day today and a good hunt tonight. I put the Jet Boat in the river and we baited a few lines so hope the fish are biting, we will see in the morning. Mason was over and helped Paw Paw with the lines. My neighbor came over with his family and his son, Jase, birthday is tomorrow so I give him a new dog lead as a gift. I boiled up some Crawfish and we set by a fire and got our belly full by dark then headed to BO's Bottom. Beverly brought Mason in the truck to where we go into the woods then I put him on the 4 wheeler with me. I'm not going to ride my little buddy on the blacktop no matter how light the traffic is, to dangerous. We cut BO and Stormy loose by the Beaver Lake and Stormy struck quick and treed. I looked at BO on the Garmin and he came into her but didn't say a word and left on out. I told my neighbor, Scott, that BO must not think she has the coon. We went into her tree and she didn't have the coon, she had a possum. I told her NO and sent her on. I was proud of BO because he has only treed one and to turn a hot quick possum down right after being turned loose and with Stormy trying to talk him into treeing with her. I was impressed. He was soon over 700yds toward the river and Stormy was going around the lake. We rode closer to BO and he was locating but wouldn't settle. After a while he found what he was looking for and locked it down and blew the top out. Stormy had worked her way into him and backed him. We had over a 200yd walk in and Mason did great. It was a big tree and surrounded by a privet hedge jungle and we couldn't shine up the tree anywhere to look for the coon. One spot a little bit but it was looking straight up. Took a couple pictures and the boys, Blain and Jase took some videos. I asked Jase if he brought that birthday present I give him and he said yes. I told him to hook ole Stormy up and try it out, lol! Ole Stormy showed that young man how good she could get through the woods AHEAD of him. I looked back a couple times and he was getting up off the ground. We got back to the 4 wheelers and I told him that I bet that dog lead was the best birthday present he ever got, lol! He just smiled. Him and Stormy will get along just fine. We all had a good hunt and came home a little bit ago. 10 minutes after Mason got his bath that little fellow was sacked out. It was a beautiful night to be out, Big Bright Moon, smell of fresh cut hay in the air, Hoot Owls and Frogs singing their song, and Ole Bo Bawling, " It won't be Long, It won't be Long"
