JJ

She looks good Scott, still reminds me of her momma. It's a tough time this time of year and the bean fields aren't fit for man nor beast...that's for sure. I'll have to say that the corn and beans look about as nice as I've seen in a lot of years but I'd sure hate to have to walk across one of those big bean fields...I think someone would have to helicopter me out

It will be another week or two and we'll be firing back up, the corn will be milk stage and the nights will start to get cooler and lots of dew...I start to like it again around that time of the year. We've got fall to look forward to and I can't hardly wait to see it come...frosty mornings, flaming leaves on the trees and clear, cool air...that's good stuff...eh?

Yeah. Them bean fields are tough this time of year. Thats why I pulled her. To easy for mr.coon and to hard on the dog. I was soaked by the time I walked in and out. Kept waiting to do a header.
Corn is right on the edge of milk here. Walking into the first tree I was watching for damage. I 'd see some where they pulled it down and did some sampling.
It was pretty nice morning hunt. Low 70's and no humidty.
Now for them mosquito's. I went and bought a head net at Wally world. Best 6 bucks I've spent in a long time. I can hear you buzzing, but you can't come in. LOL

Your right about the cooler weather. I prefer it also. For me High of 45 low into the 20's is perfect hunting and working weather.
I might be up Fri. You gonna be around? I really need to mow or bale by now.

Scott

Its not about fashion Dave. Its all about comfort. This is the worst I've ever seen the must squats here. But your right. It is a sight. The dogs have both pulled up short the first time they came in and saw me.

Took JJ to what used to be one of my best spots. But last winter they logged it out. So I thought I'd try. Cast her. She thought she'd try and go back to the jeep to see Tater. Correction made and out she went. Half hour went by and nothing. Called her in.

Drop two way more fun. Cast her. She struck in and pushed a great track. One of those out of this corn field into another back into another, across the creek and into the bottoms. She treed on a big cotton wood. Sons a gun I found the meat. Petted the heck out of her. That was a great track.

Drop three. Took her to the honey hole. Got down into it and popped out into beans. So I cast her. She struck right of the lead and treed about a 100 feet down. Little berry tree. Had the meat.
Called it a night. 5 out 7 of my favorite spots are beans this year and one was logged out.
That just hurts.

"Temps in the low 70's; struck off the lead; took a track 100 yds" my goodness I feel so sorry for you. You are just breaking my heart. I don't see how you can stand to hunt up there. When it gets too bad for you, come on down to some of my easy hunting.

Actually it was 56 last night and the track was a 100 feet in the beans. Don't go giving her 3 times the credit she doesn't deserve. I also filled my frog legs with water on the second drop crossing the creek that usually only has a foot of water. It was waist deep last night. Plus I got some poison ivy, oak or whatever in my one boot. So a little sympathy here.
Striking off the lead. Thats why it's called the honey hole. It just keeps producing. I've been hunting that spot for over 20 years and have harvested a lot of coon from there. It's also a training spot for pups. It's a 40 acre set of woods with a lot of den tree's. Corn and beans on one side. Praire and drainage ditches on two sides and a river/ lake on the other. It's just thick with coon. I'd be crushed if they log that out.
Thanks for the invite. But I'll stay here in the flat lands of the north.. LOL

FYI. Leinie is JJ's dam.

Congratulations to Don and Deuce

Got a message from Don Barnett Sr this morning and he told me that his nice male Deuce, got another first place win last night at Boonevill Arkansas. I think it was 400+ and no minus.

Deuce seems to be doing a pretty nice job for Don and the folks who handle him and Don says that folks who see him go, like him.

Congratulations Don and Deuce!

Deuce is by way of Dual Gr. Ch. PR T-Top Rabble Rouser and Gr. Nite Ch. PR Machine Gun Annie.

Big litter

Holy cow Chad...that's a big litter of pups. I would expect that she'll lose a few and probably just as good, it's pretty hard to keep a big litter like that healthy and growing properly without supplemental feeding and that's a lot of work...not my cup of tea anyway...

It's an interesting mix of blood and should be fun to see how it all works out in the end.

Congratulations on a nice litter of pups.

It's good to see her keeping progressing like she is Carl, it should be real interesting this fall when the conditions are a little better.

Your patience and efforts are paying off with her, that's for sure.

Oz and Ruby

Chad's male dog is called Oz, he's a Nite Ch and Chad will have to fill in the details on his breeding.

Ruby is a PR dog out of Rabble Rouser and Starr. She's a for real coon dog and very good tree dog and independent from what Chad tells me...he'll have to correct me if I mistated this in any way.

I think Oz is put together pretty well and I apologize for not knowing more about him...it's a fault of mine from way back...I'm just not as well versed on these pedigrees as I should be but I can tell you how our dogs are put together for a long time back.

Buddy

It has been so hot out here in eastern NC the last month that I haven't taken Buddy out. But we did go out the other night, he stuck, tracked, SWAM a large creek (20 yds wide and overthe head deep) and he treed on the side of the creek. Saw the tree nice size hole with wet marks going in it. It did take some calling to get him back across the creek. He has the goods, all he needs is more cool nights and his first taste of meat. Still loving the job he is doing without having had a taste yet. Man what is going to happen when he dose get the prize?

For anyone else reading this he is brother to ACE.

Buddy

Hey Rob, I'm glad to hear that Buddy is still hanging in there through this hot miserable summer. Fall is right around the corner and then you can give him the pay day he's looking for. I'd bet he's going to light it up by winter from how he started and what he's doing now. Hunting in the heat isn't any good and does little benefit for the dog other than give exercise and at least keep him thinking coons. Fall and winter will prove his worth when you're hunting for real, that's when he'll make his strides and you can start enjoying the whole experience.

It has been hotter than heck here to with high humidity so we don't work dogs much in it. The weather is supposed to break by Sunday so hopefully we'll get some time to mess with pups and get some updated pictures. The pups are looking real good, they are stretching out and have real good attitudes so I'm betting they'll raise all kinds of ruckus when they see the coon for the second time.

I know there are several folks out there that are interested in how these guys are going to progress so updates are coming shortly.

Congratulations to Don and Deuce

Don left a message for me this morning saying that Deuce picked up another first place win last night at Boone Arkansas. He was once again handled by Allen Gullett and although it wasn't real pretty, it counts just the same. 75+ and 100- was enough to get the win.

Congratulations Don, that's a great accomplishment. 3 first place wins in as many weeks...can't get much better than that for all of you and that nice young hound.

Add another Nite Champion for ol' Rabble Rouser and Machine Gun Annie.

That will bump Rabble up to #8 on the "list" or 8.42% by UKC's method of computing or 11% by my method. The Everready kennel just keeps on going and going.

Rabble Rouser

Some of these nice young hounds that are still out there out of ol' Rabble Rouser, have a real good chance to finish to at least Nite Ch and more. From the last tally that I had, Deuce makes 17, 18 or 19 because there was a dog or two finished that weren't yet recorded. I look at the other dogs that have a chance that have at least first place wins and there are 5 more with Moose, Griz, Ruby, Copper and another male out of Rabble and Annie. There are a number of other young dogs both male and female that are good enough to win in the hunts if given that opportunity.

Basically, we are lucky enough to see history in the making because if those dogs finish, it would possibly produce one of, or the first Rebone male to reproduce at 13 - 15% based off 190 pups produced.

Rat was a #1 reproducer with over 10% - Raven was a #1 reproducer and Rabble Rouser was a #1 reproducer on the UKC list.

There are many other nice hounds out there out of old Rabble Rouser that will never see a competition event so I'm satisfied that we can say that he is one of the best reproducing Redbone hounds in history.

Our goal here isn't to dwell on the past but to show how a solid foundation developed through planning and hard work, can help move our breed forward. We look forward to the next generations and to the enjoyment with our hounds that we have had for near 30 years. We hope that we are able to keep showing nice young hounds in development and to talk about future successes realized from these same bloodlines going back to Dixie, Rocky, Rat, Raven, Rabble Rouser, Bomber, Rusty, Bell and all the rest that somehow have influenced our direction.

Yank, Moose, Haze, Rage, Shaker, Rocky and any number of other real nice young males are the foundation for future successes and enjoyment so please don't overlook these nice young dogs when the time comes to mate your good females because they have the history behind them to help you enjoy your hounds for generations to come.

Tom, there are a whole lot of people looking forward to the next generations. You seem to have scattered those promising Rabble seeds across the land. Maybe we need to start calling you Tommy Rabbleseed. It looks to me like 22 is going to be the magic #.
