Turkey and Dolly pup
Ive got a male out of Turkey and Rob Farr's Dolly female I call Hoss. He's 9 months now and I really like this pup. The first time I worked him on a caged coon it took no encouragement to get him fired up at the coon. I drug the cage around and he stayed right at it trying to get at the coon. Hung it up in a tree way above Hoss's head and he treed on it extremely nice, let him tree for about 7 min and he never lost interest, treed like he'd been doing it for years. He's got a really nice clear chop on the tree that carries well. I decided I'd let the coon out and run up a tree and let Hoss tree on it some more, well the coon never made it to the tree, Hoss got loose and caught that poor thing on the ground and tore him up, I had an older finished hound there in case Hoss didn't do what was expected. And since Hoss caught the coon on the ground I let the older dog get in on the fight as well. Hoss has GRIT! And a lot of natural ability as I see it. He didn't hesitate to jump right on that live coon and fight it. After I had put Hoss back away I decided to lay a drag about 30 min later, and by this time it was dark so he couldnt see the coon at all. I started at his kennel door drug it though some woods a little bit in a windy path about 40 yards long and hung it up in a tree about 8 ft high, waited about ten minutes then let Hoss out. His nose went straight to the ground and he ran that track about perfect and he did run past the tree 5 times and realized the track didn't go on from there, he kept going back to the beginning of the track and running it again, finally on his 6th time running it he stopped at that tree, smelled the tree and got up on it smelling and started treeing. Hoss wasnt able to see the track I laid or the coon. Just did what he was supposed to do with his nose. If that's not natural ability I don't know what is. And to boot his is a beautiful dark cherry red hound. I really like Hoss and I'm expecting good things from him. I drove 9 hours down to Rob's house to get this puppy because of his blood and I am glad I did. Rob is a super nice guy and great to deal with and Travis is the same way. I really expect Hoss to do his fair share of winning and I will do my part in making that happen. This cross is going to be a dang good one I think. I'd like to hear reports on litter mates if possible. I took video of Hoss treeing the live caged coon and treeing the drag but I dont have photobucket to post them on here or I would. Thanks Travis and Rob for making this cross.
