Turkey Pups

Hey Travis,

Tonight, Kent and I are taking a spin with two Turkey pups. Nt.Ch. Bad News Brown and Sweet Georgia Chrome (GC) are going to give it a go. The weather is turning around, and the temps are going up.

Should be a nice night for a hunt. Will post a few pics if they manage to get treed. LOL

The turkey x Nt ch rockers Mississippi Queen pups are nearing their 1st birthday. This litter went to good hunting homes and it shows. I know of 7 out of 8 from that litter that will run and tree to some degree. Some better than others, some independent, some pack but they all have brains and an eagerness to hunt. I believe this litter is going to be really special in a few months. Thanks to all that have put them in the woods.

Turkey x Queen male

I am going to be selling my male from the turkey x queen cross. He is very lightly started. I just haven't been able to put enough time into him. Good looking, good mouth, and great acting pup. Can get him to American days, or to Tennessee. Dob 4/2/16 Call Dave 715-570-0772

Turkey and I will be at American redbone days. I'll also be bringing a 13 month old male out of turkey to sell for a friend. He's running and treeing pretty consistently with the older dog and is ready to be singled out. He's out of nt ch rockers Mississippi queen. His own is asking 400$ which is a steal in my opinion.

Turkey and Dolly pup

Ive got a male out of Turkey and Rob Farr's Dolly female I call Hoss. He's 9 months now and I really like this pup. The first time I worked him on a caged coon it took no encouragement to get him fired up at the coon. I drug the cage around and he stayed right at it trying to get at the coon. Hung it up in a tree way above Hoss's head and he treed on it extremely nice, let him tree for about 7 min and he never lost interest, treed like he'd been doing it for years. He's got a really nice clear chop on the tree that carries well. I decided I'd let the coon out and run up a tree and let Hoss tree on it some more, well the coon never made it to the tree, Hoss got loose and caught that poor thing on the ground and tore him up, I had an older finished hound there in case Hoss didn't do what was expected. And since Hoss caught the coon on the ground I let the older dog get in on the fight as well. Hoss has GRIT! And a lot of natural ability as I see it. He didn't hesitate to jump right on that live coon and fight it. After I had put Hoss back away I decided to lay a drag about 30 min later, and by this time it was dark so he couldnt see the coon at all. I started at his kennel door drug it though some woods a little bit in a windy path about 40 yards long and hung it up in a tree about 8 ft high, waited about ten minutes then let Hoss out. His nose went straight to the ground and he ran that track about perfect and he did run past the tree 5 times and realized the track didn't go on from there, he kept going back to the beginning of the track and running it again, finally on his 6th time running it he stopped at that tree, smelled the tree and got up on it smelling and started treeing. Hoss wasnt able to see the track I laid or the coon. Just did what he was supposed to do with his nose. If that's not natural ability I don't know what is. And to boot his is a beautiful dark cherry red hound. I really like Hoss and I'm expecting good things from him. I drove 9 hours down to Rob's house to get this puppy because of his blood and I am glad I did. Rob is a super nice guy and great to deal with and Travis is the same way. I really expect Hoss to do his fair share of winning and I will do my part in making that happen. This cross is going to be a dang good one I think. I'd like to hear reports on litter mates if possible. I took video of Hoss treeing the live caged coon and treeing the drag but I dont have photobucket to post them on here or I would. Thanks Travis and Rob for making this cross.

Sounds like that pup has some good qualities, hopefully you can get him in woods soon. Mulberry season is a great time to get a pup started.

Brandon my pup is doing well. He has been going all the way with the other dogs since he was 5 months old. He has been opening on tracks since 6 months old. I had some health issues and couldn't hunt for 2 months but am back at it now and last night he treed hard and solid on a mulberry. I had to lead him off it back to the truck. He has a great mouth and learns things quickly. I like him and have high hopes for him. Looks like your pup is on his way and all he will need is woods time and that is great. Keep me posted on his progress.

I brought home a turkey project for this fall today. He's loaded with good dogs in his blood so he has as good of a chance as I could ask for. Turkey, rocker, rabble, red rock, twistin lightning, music, pepper, jackpot Jackie just to list a few in his 3 generation ped. He'll be hunted on and off with turkey and my young gunner dog (rocky x tammy) until he's ready to run solo.

I don't post many things on here but I thought I'd mention a few things regarding turkey and his pups. We only attended American Redbone Days this year, turkey hunted well but didn't win this time around.
Turkey has only bred 2 females this year, one litter is now 3 months old, the other female is a nice dual grand female belonging to Chad Cartwright.
I receive updates on young turkey pups almost daily and I'm pretty proud of the results. The best assessment I can give on his pups is this. They start quick, go hunting always, average to above average mouths, independent (sometimes too much), intelligent and very nice to be around. They hit a frustrating stage around 12 mo of age because they typically won't back an older dog but if you'll wait them out, the end result is worth it. Thanks to everyone who has given turkey and his pups a chance

It has been a while since I've posted anything about turkey and his offspring so I thought I'd crawl out from the shadows for a minute. Turkey is still treeing coons like he always has so nothing has changed in that department. I continue to get good results from the owners of turkey pups and I believe his reproducing numbers will be impressive in a year or two. I'm currently hunting a 6 mo old male out of turkey and a rabble female. He has been a treedog since I took him hunting at 4 mo of age. I have to say that turkey crosses the best on quality rabble bred females and the banjo females have done well also. Our season is starting next week so if anyone would like to see turkey or his offspring in action, just give me a call.

I just got home from 3 nights at Jared's and we just had to turn Boone loose a time or two so I know what you mean. I didn't mean that I didn't want to see him go again. I was just saying that I have seen what he can do. But that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to come out there and go hunting. Maybe I can talk Jared into a weekend getaway.

When you have a good hound like Boone or Turkey it's a good idea to take them at least one drop anytime you go hunting. They'll be too old to go before you know it. You guys can come up and chase these Missouri coons anytime just let me know

Turkey x Queen

Belle is looking really good this fall. She is treeing coon every time we hit the woods. She is silent on track with a big locate and rolls it into a nice loud ringing chop on tree.
