Training day...
We did a little training this morning and had a good time of it. I lost the training coon again so we had to use a fresh road kill carcass in the cage...the pups didn't seem to mind. You'll have to excuse my enthusiasm with all the pictures but I love this stuff and these are nice prospects...
Yank and Angel male with green collar, the other 3 are from Moose and Leinie...

Giving it all he has...(Dark male in background is out of Yank and Shadow)

One of the twin Moose and Leinie males...

The other of the twin Moose and Leinie males...

Our picks, Cloud from Yank and Angel and Slim from Moose and Leinie...

Moose and Leinie male going to NC...Nice tree style...

These pups performed very well today, all are good prospects. There are some interesting characteristics in these pictures that I find very satisfying to see. The Moose and Leinie pups are very long, lean and athletic, they're going to be tall and muscled very nicely and fit to go. There are 3 of them left here and all three get after a coon and have good tree instincts. They never let up during this training session. I'd also point out the tree style, each took his turn at getting up on the hardwood, digging in and barking like they meant it.
The Yank and Angel male is good looking and has very good tree style...reminds me a lot of Ace. He is very intense but has a wonderful personality.
The other pup in the photos is a male out of Yank and Shadow. Today was the first day he fired up like he really wanted to participate. He has been fearful of the high level of activity of the adult dogs but today we removed them from the equation so they were all peers and it allowed him to make the next step. He shows pretty good interest and treed real good the whole time.
One of the Moose and Leinie males is going east to NC and another south and both are good prospects and should be well along the way by the time they head home this fall.
I predict that we'll have the two that we're keeping here, tracking and treeing with the older dogs by October and it will be fun to watch them develop. If the other two get some woods time this fall and winter, I would expect that they'll be working hard to participate also.
Gun is on his way home to Wisconsin thanks to Dave Woofter and deadeye who brought him back...THANK YOU both!

Unrealistic expectations are a roadblock to success, judge your dogs by what they are ready to give not by what you wish they'd do.
