Bam Bam

Bogue Chitto Bam Bam is home in the Bogue Chitto River Bottom. Corky said he would have him here in the morning but he made the mistake of telling me he was coming to Jackson, Ms. before heading to West Monroe, La. then to Lafayette, La. then back my way in the morning. I asked him what time he would be in Jackson and he said around 4pm, Why? I told him I would meet him at Bass Pro and lighten his load and get my pup. He said, " You don't have any patience do you Steve? " He knows me well!, lol!! So Beverly and I loaded up and went shopping a while at Bass Pro and Sams Club and met Corky and got Bam Bam. He is a fine looking, proud pup that is full of energy and not scared of a thing after being hauled since last night. Huge mouth on him for a pup less than 3 months old. Should be ready to start after deer season is over, last of January. Glad I decided I needed " Just one More! "

BAM BAM

Thanks Roger, I like him and he's full of himself and into everything. I like his actions at a young age, scared of Nothing. Mike described him as a Stemwinder and he hit the nail on the head!

Rowdy he came from Illinois, Stormy is looking great and she is loaded up with milk so everything looks good at this point. She is due Saturday so just a few more days, going to be a busy weekend around here!

RAIN

We still haven't got a drop here, been raining around us a few miles up the road but nothing here yet. Better chance tomorrow and Friday. I sold Star today, tough choice but felt like it was the thing to do. Good young pup, well mannered never barks in the kennel but I guess to calm for me. I like them half wild, Bronco acting and hard headed with fire in their eyes. Going to keep a female out of Bo and Stormy and got one coming from Zero and Fannie so I had to cut back somewhere and I like Bo , Briar and this new pup Bam Bam to much to part with any of them. Wish the new owner good luck with her this winter as she will be the right age to start fooling with around December.

Went to a new job we have today to check it out and its on the Sabine River, Texas is on the other side. 4 hour ride, one way and that was rolling. Its 261 miles from the house but I shouldn't have to go but twice a week for the next couple months so not to bad. Took Bam Bam to the river again yesterday and he has took to it like a beaver. No fear in this pup and what a mouth. The only thing he don't have is age, can't wait until he's ready to start. Going to be fun!

OLE MAMA

I left to go hunting tonight and Stormy was panting hard and temp had dropped to 99.4. Came back a few hours later and this is the picture I took. No pups yet but should be any minute now that they start arriving. I put newspaper in the pool like some say they use but shes made such a mess of it I think I will take it out until its all over then clean pool up and put ole rug in there and change it out a couple times a day. Bo and I made a round at BO's Bottom and he treed 3 times and I looked at first and third one but couldn't find the second one if he was there. He looked good on the first one as he worked a feeder track out of the swamp, across a hill with mixed oak and pine and to back side of beaver pond and treed on good size oak. Last one he bumped around a few minutes looking up a couple trees before he settled. I'm so excited about Stormy having these pups I know I won't sleep tonight. I will check in on her every couple hours but other wise leave her alone as long as all looks well. Will update after pups have arrived.

NEED ADVICE

Stormy was like this at 8:30pm last night and when I came in but before I went to bed I looked in on her and she was up walking around but panting. This morning she is laying there like this again whining and don't get up when I checked on her. This seems like a long time to me and still No pups. I am calling Vet at 7:30 when they open. The few litters I raised 20 years or more ago I don't remember labor lasting this long. Any advise would be appreciated.

I'd say a trip to the vet! They should be able to give her a shot that will speed it up. She probably has one breached.

Female

If she is whining since last evening you better get her to the Vet they may have to take the pups. I never give them a shot until they have at least one pup. How many days is she? She's big enough to pop. Vet is the right direction.JMO. Good Luck. Dave

STORMY

Thanks Mr. Jack, Rowdy and Dave, I just talked with Vet and he said it don't sound like she is pushing yet and this is normal for a day or so prior to having pups. I checked on her again and she acted like she wanted to get up so I grabbed the lead and she stood up so I took her out and walked her. She didn't whine or act like it bothered her so we walked about 10 minutes then put her back up. She is due tomorrow, that's day 63 from first breeding on July 11th. I am off work so every hour will be checking on her. Will update as situation changes, as stressed as I am you would think my wife was in labor! Lol!

Bam Bam

Dave your right, proud Dad is almost the way I feel! She has 6 now and it would be fine with me if she would stop there but still looks big so no telling how many we will end up with.

Thanks Tommy, she is doing fine and having one about every thirty minutes.

Bam Bam and I took a walk into the woods down to the cypress slough. He really went into hunting mode as his nose started picking up all the scents that are down near the water. It was fun watching him stay busy on different little scents he was checking out.

Mason meets Bam Bam.

Mason checking out the new pups, 7 so far.

PUPS

Looks like Stormy is done at 8. That's a good number and hoping she raises them all. I gave her some water and one cup of chicken broth and she lapped it down. She looks real good so I feel she will recover nicely and is taking great care of pups so far.

MORE PUPS

Thanks guys! No I didn't find any more sinkers but killed a little time looking and me and Bam Bam tromped the woods some.

Stormy wasn't done at 8, I guess I was just Praying she was. Went out at dark to go make a round with BO and she had 10. Came back just a minute ago and now there is 11. I'm going to have to have a 2 for the price of 1 sale to get rid of all these pups if they all make it. I sure was hoping with her age and it being BO's first litter that it would have been on the small side. He ain't shooting blanks that's for sure. Took him to Haunted House Bottom and thought we would have got after one pretty quick as it rained this evening and was muggy with a light breeze and partly cloudy. Thought they would have been moving good but it wasn't the case. He hunted over 1,000yds to the S/W of where I cut him and looped back on other side of swamp bottom following the creek back toward the old house and finally struck at 483, moved it my way and treed at 327. I walked the edge of a field to within 30yds of him and hit the squaller and he was in the very top of a tupelo gum. I knocked him out to Bo to give him a little reward before he hits the hunt tomorrow night and Saturday night down at Amite, La. He's still heavier than I like but he can tree real, live Coons so we gonna give it a shot even if neither one of us is in shape to run a marathon, lol! Good Hunting!
