BBOA Alabama State Championship

Showed and hunted Cotton. Won ch female in show. Drew out in a 3 dog cast. We cut loose and complete silence. Looked at Garmin after awhile and Cotton was over a mile. Never heard her bark. We started trying to get closer and finally heard her treed. We got in there and she was across the Waxahatchie River. They had 4 inches of rain and that sucker was roaring. I couldn't get Cotton to leave the tree and got scratched for the one hour rule. The English dog left in the cast never got treed and we had a dead cast. Cotton did her job and it about killed me not getting to her in time. We will get them next time. Darren

Yeah I was proud of Cotton blowing on thru the country to get after a coon. Just wish the guide would have thought about what could happen if they crossed that river. He said they normally don't cross but when that scorecard is in your hand it will happen.

Yeah I did meet him. nice guy. The Zeke dog is a very nice looking dog. I can tell he is a half brother to Sounder. I got back to the club house at 2:00 am and everyone was gone, so I didn't even get to see who won what!! I was just glad to snap that dog leash on Cotton!! Darren

I think 2 nite champion cast both where dead cast. and I think 3 reg cast. a dog from ga. won the king and high scoring dog with 250 and a walker beat me on a tie braker. I cant think of the queen of the hunt she was from Jackson,al. she had 100

Queen of Hunt

PR Southern Blue Hardwood Molly won queen if the hunt. I owned her and sold her to a guy locally. He had her for about a year and his job caused him to quit and sold her to the guys in Jackson.

Hunt

Drake and myself went for a couple drops tonight. First drop we cut BB and a pup loose. BB got deep and struck at about 450 yds. It was a short track and she wasn't treeing right. Got to her and she was up a holly tree with a grinner sittin at the top. We moved and cut Cotton alone. She struck a track at about 300 yds and started working it in the bottom. The track wasn't great but she moved on out good. She was about 600 yds deep when I heard that familiar screaming bawl locate. She turned it over and lit up the bottom. She was on a big den but the ole masked bandit was curled up in a huge fork on the outside. Gave her an (at a girl)and a rub on the head. We called it a night and headed to put up dogs. Y'all keep'em lookin up!!!

Southern Bluetick Kennel

Trent I appreciate that man. Sort of got tickled at Mr. Willis giving me advise on showing. I have shown dogs in state hunts and won best of breed bluetick at the AKC world with ole Shine. If they will show I will show'em but I'm geared more for the Hardwood rather than the plywood. Lol

Here is the only tri-color dog allowed at Southern Bluetick Kennel.
He is at stud to approved females. Guaranteed to put heads on them pups Lol

HUNT

Went for a little while last night. We cut my nephew's dog Rickett loose with my Jobe X Magic female, Hooker. They headed in the timber and Rickett struck. He headed to the creek but was just boo hooing around. I got Cotton and sent her and Cy up the creek. Cotton struck in at about 200 yds and started working a bad track. She soon got it moving and headed up the creek. Griffin, my nephew, said Rickett was treed and him and Drake headed to him. Drake said they got close and he sounded like he was in the ground and quit. He came out to them and Drake used the Garmin to find Hooker as she was about 200 yds to the left. Cotton ended up getting treed. I looked at the Garmin and she was .9 miles up the creek. I headed in and got to her. She was on a big den tree. I leashed her up and by the time I got to the truck it was 10:45. Had to get the boys home for school, so we called it a night. Gone get after them again tonight. Y'all Keep'em Lookin' Up!! Darren
