Back Up For Haze
Haze is a 2012 Performance Sire. I will do my best to give as much info as I can on Haze and his pups.
When I was competition hunting Haze, his strengths were:
*A lot of 1st trees.
*Very accurate
*Would split and hold pressure
*Great track speed
*Nice distinguishable locate (warbling,yodel or the "turkey gobble")
*Above average mouth
*Straight, no trash (fast or slow)
*absolutely not an ill hair on him
*Good coon sense.
*Back off tree with other dogs, stayed out of trouble.
*Could breed him the same day as a hunt and take him to the hunt and have no problems.
Weaknesses:
*3rd or 4th strike dog (some folks may take the fact that haze was slow to open that he was me-tooing or piggy backin', this isn't the case, when haze opened, 9 times out of 10 he was already 50 yards ahead of the other dogs and had the track lined out, thus the reason he got a lot of first trees)
*would spend a little time "emptying" out when first turned loose unless dropped on a track.
*would sometimes check back in after about 20 minutes or so.
*not a lay up dog, likes to run a track
*Had to be hunted up a few weeks to look his best.
Info on pups sired by Haze:
*Will start between 4months and 12months (personally have seen both ends of this spectrum) If they start later (after 10 months), they will come on very quickly)
*Louder mouths than Haze himself
*Will most likely have some white on them
*Have good drive but have seen some that don't
*Usually bigger dogs
*Good body structure (head, legs,feet)
*Mostly on the wood tree dogs
*Willing to split tree
*Many are very fast on track
*Good locates
*Not sure about trash, Frog is straight, Jenny is pretty gamey and will touch a deer but easily comes off them. I haven't really had any complaints about trash except the occasional possum.
Haze will end up being on the reproducers list once he has the required amount of pups. He has a couple of nite champs on the ground now with many more to come.
Haze isn't perfect but he will consistently tree coons. He comes from a long line of reproducers, his Sire is Rabble Rouser who just crossed the threshold of 11% reproductive rate and will only get higher. His Dam is pigeon, who is the #2 current reproducer with more titled dogs to come out of her.
Haze has pups on the ground now that are showing great promise and already have wins, including a 13 month old pup who was High Scoring Red male at the Grand American in 2011.
We know that not all pups will make it due to not being given a true opportunity, but I believe a high percentage of Haze pups will make it if given the right opportunity.
If you like T-Top blood and Rusty Red blood and Red Ace blood.....then Haze should be at the top of your list for consideration.
Haze turned 6 years old on 11/12/11.
Come for a hunt anytime, we'll show Haze in the woods, by himself or with other dogs.
