Carl, I try not to mix pleasure with work. I use Coon Hunting and talking about coon hunting as one of my many releases from my job. The UKC message board is a place I go to talk dogs not work. I also would never want anyone to use me to try and prove another officer wrong. I do not know what officer you are referring to but I by no means want to try and discredit another Game Warden or Law Enforcement Officer.
With that being said I do want to try and answer your questions:
The law says you can have a gun with you while you are coon hunting any time of year. In the field or in the truck it doesn't change anything. I think that should answer your many questions about having a gun when it is not kill season.
Now onto coon hunting during deer season:
"During modern gun deer season, raccoon and opossum hunters may not hunt during daylight hours. Night hunting on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 shall conclude by 30 minutes before sunrise on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, which is when shooting hours open for modern gun deer season." That is per our webpage. So you have to hunt night time only during modern gun deer season.
As far as to what is considered concealed and what is not considered concealed that is a can of worms I am not going to open on here. You run into way to many "what ifs" and it runs into a million questions and scenarios. We need to just be thankful that we live in a open carry state and we still have our gun and hunting rights.
If I have failed to answer any questions or have been unclear feel free to call me anytime. If you want to call and talk about what is considered concealed and what is not that would be a lot easier than trying to discuss it on here. Or if anyone just wants to call and talk dogs that would be even better

People accuse me of being color blind. The truth is I will hunt red ones, blue ones, black and white ones, yellow ones, black and tan ones, or even brindle ones; Just as long as they are English!
