Hunting
Hey Tim, the weather is mostly crappy like it is most of the time this time of year
We are in our 9 day gun deer season right now so we don't do any coon hunting during this time...too many deer hunting folks who still think a coon hound can catch and kill a deer
Anyway, we take a few days to hunt deer anyway and work fills up the rest of the time so this week is a nice break for Dave and the dogs. Hopefully, we'll have some decent weather and not so much snow and cold real early and we'll be able to still get the dogs out a bunch of times and train on the weekends.
We've got a big hog of a buck above the house, 12 points and 20-22" spread at least...he's pretty smart and lives real close to us all year long but we'll hope he slips up later on this week and see if we can bag him. My son Jason had him close but couldn't get a shot and he says he's a real stud. It's extremely steep and very thick on the ridge above my house and darned hard to get them up if they don't want to get up. We've got a pretty good chance of some snow on Wednesday and Thursday of this week so if it's enough to stick, it will make it a lot easier to see the deer in the woods and maybe his time will run out...eh?
We should be back coon hunting by next week and once the dogs get used to hunting in temperatures in the mid teens again, we'll hope to find us a few of these big, ridge running boar coons and get Slim in on some fast and furious action. I've got one on the burner for you Tim, he might have the goods to be a real nice hound.
