BOGUE CHITTO ROSE

For the 5th time in as many weeks Bogue Chitto Rose and I found ourselves back at the Vets office but not the one I went to the previous 4 times. At some point even a dummy like me says enough is enough and we have to do something different. The pups had got Coccidia way back and the Albon cleared them up but then a few got the loose stool again and more bottles of Albon at 25 bucks a pop. They all got better except Rose. She would be fine a few days then here we went again. I have boiled chicken and mixed with feed to get her to eat, give her Pedialyte, wormed and rewormed her, tape worm pill, bleached kennels 3 times, threw food and water bowls away and bought new ones, ect. Blade is fine, but poor little Rose has been through hell. The Vet I kept going to just kept giving anti biotics even though nothing was showing up, NOTHING. Give Probiotic pills, Vitamins, chicken broth. The help tending to the hounds while we were gone on the trip give the medicine like they should have but while we were gone Rose quit eating and drinking and become VERY DEHYDRATED. I wasn't told. I got home last Monday evening and went out to my pens and was sick to see what Rose looked like. Back to the same Vet last week and put her on different antibiotics even though Nothing was showing up. Most all I have been doing was gathered from UKC Forum doing Search which is very helpful but the Vet would just say, " Give her two of these pills a day " then bill me AGAIN. I was stupid enough to trust him 4 times for the same problem but never again. I got another Vet's number from Mr. Jack and went there today and as you can see we are giving her drip as she has her head on my arm. I stayed there 3 hours until we had a bag of drip in her then left. I will pick her up tomorrow evening. Her heart rate is 200, high. White Blood count is 27,000, very high which shows raging infection or inflammation. Can't have infection after all the meds she has took in past few weeks. He said kidney and liver is ok but her intestines are sick and not digesting her food right so therefore she isn't getting the nutrients and protein she has to have. Her belly is swollen real bad but she has no muscle mass left, just skin and bones. Its been breaking my heart for weeks trying to do everything I could think of and watching her keep going down hill while I paid the stupid Vet wads of money. This new Vet said I should have been giving her Ensure as it has protein but Pedialyte does not. Also he said feed her baby food in a syringe. They will keep her tonight and get more drip in her and tomorrow then she will come home and I know more about what I need to do and give her to get her on her feet. No more antibiotics, he said that was sterilizing her stomach. I made this cross of Stormy and Bo for a female pup and I Pray little Rose makes it. This is only my 3rd litter to ever raise and I've done all I know to do. Probably will never raise another. For all you breeders out there I have even more respect now for yaw and all you go through to get these little ones raised up healthy. If I was a breeder and hunter and had bred my hounds over the years to get the style hound that suited me and raised up a litter of fine bred, healthy pups that were UKC Performance and PKC SS and was selling them for 500 and someone tried to get me to take less money, I would tell them to kiss off in a heartbeat. People in the cities and country to don't think twice about giving that for a little fur ball yapping puppy that ain't worth 2 cents in my book. Rose will be living in the house a few weeks until she's straight or kicks the bucket. Any of yaw have any experience with a sick pup like this I would love to see how you handled it or any other suggestions yaw might have, thanks Mr. Jack for the phone number to your Vet. He's kind of a smart " A " but as long as he is saving my pup I won't show him I can be one too.
