Here comes Da Pack...

Who'da thunk it...eh?

What the heck? It was a great game and it was fitting that the defense made the play to secure it because they sure played a great game and covered the offense's butt today.............GO PACK!

Hey Carl, the pups look good. I have to look at them on my Blackberry screen but I can see them pretty good.

I'm in Atlanta and it's in the mid 40s so it feels like spring for sure.

I hope everyone is doing good up north and all around the country, I miss visiting with my good friens.

Mark Bates had back surgery so I wish him a quick recovery and hope he gets back on his feet soon.

Weather

I'm back home and it's actually pretty nice this afternoon. I rolled in around 5:00 PM and it was around 27 and that's a good place to be for this time of year.

I see we got a little more snow but nothing too serious by the looks of it. I'm hoping it's a good weekend to get some wood in and then I'm gonna relax and try and get caught up from being gone all week.

The pups look nice Carl, it's nice to see them on the big screen. It looks like they're already interested in the scent of a coon so that's a good start.

Good luck to everyone hunting down south tonight and tomorrow night...I hope Buck doesn't chew his nails off right down to the bone

Another Good one

Glad the Cherry / Ace pup is looking up Tim. I spelled his name Hussler on purpose after a great coon dog that has passed on. The Cherry / Ace pups are all tree minded. Joe better get Link Pretty soon or I may back out. P.S. We sold another nice T-Top dog to Randy and Buck from South Car. That will be showing up on Topdog's post soon. His Name is Crank and he is out of Yank and is going to be a good one.

Pups

Hey Dave, I'm looking forward to seeing those pups grow and hope they make their new owners as happy as all these pups have made me for all these years. We talked a little bit about how hard it is to let those good prospects go but the reality is always the same...we can't hunt them all.

These young dogs in the pen are all looking good and are ready for action if we could just get a break from winter. It's snowing again right now and about 5" since this morning. That on top of the 18-20" we already had on the ground and it's making my short legs seem shorter all the time. I guess it's the same as it always has been...it just seems like the winter is longer as I get older.

I'm guessing right now that these youngsters are going to make good prospects after just a week or so of getting them back with the program but we'll see who steps up and how quickly they do it.

I've noticed new coon tracks coming down out of the quarry and that's good to see, I picked up three dead ones over the last month as they crossed the road to get down to the lower cornfield...I hate it when that happens. I've also noticed lots of tracks coming and going from the big den trees over the hill so the boars are rutting and looking for action. Most places I can see a couple of tracks in the bottom of a furrow in the snow...it's pretty hard going for coons in this soft and deep snow. Just the same, it's good to see a few around because when the snow goes, we'll need a few to tree.

Angel came in heat last week and I have her mated a couple of times to Yank again. She is 10 years old but I'm hoping the old girl can give me one more litter of pups from that cross...it's a good one. Leinie is also in heat but Moose is out east so she's gonna have to skip this time around unless I try her on one of these heavy line bred male pups here in the yard...nah...we'll wait it out.

Good hunting to you all...

Crank

Would like to say thanks for the opportunity to get Crank. Done a drag with him today with he ran and treed nicely. Took him with us hunting tonight, second turnout he went in and treed with another dog, had a coon up a small gum tree. Cant wait to watch him progress into a top coonhound. Randy & Buck

News

That's all great news. Mind you they just picked that 10 month old dog up Sunday. He is T-Top Show-Time Coon Stopper Ace's Younger brother. Good luck with him Cathy,Randy, and Buck. Real nice Folks. I sold some young dogs this year that should be tops when finished. ( all T-Top dogs ) Good Luck to all. 30 years ago I would have keep them all but age lets a guy know he needs to share. Dave

I don't have any pups at the moment but I've always got something in the works at some point and this summer won't be any different. Rebel was as nice a hound as a man could want back in his day. I sold him as a pup and the first time I saw him on a tree, he was 18 months old and already an accomplished lion, bobcat and coon hound. I remember he was at the bottom of a big tall pine and he treed so hard it almost made a man crazy to stand close to him. There was a big Canada Lynx at the top of that pine...we thought we had turned out on a lion track...and it was just about as good as it gets. I've got Rebel on video on that tree and on lion trees as well as on coon trees so I'll always have his memories with me just like I have Rat, Raven, Rabble Rouser, Rocky, Maude and many other top hounds of yesterday and today.

We are getting hammered here. It's been along time since I've seen this much snow at once. 6" last night. Now they're saying another 12"-16" with 40 plus mile an hour winds. I blew everything out when it let up hoping to make it easier wed.
I'm brought the dogs in with the wind to be safe. They're driving me crazy. LOL
Stay warm everybody.
