I would say running coon in the am right before sun up and into early morning the coon would be fun to tree. Never did it but I know several that has!

Nice little road trip uh. Are ya up yet. Congrads on your cast win. Wish one of us would of came home with a first. I'm still drying out. Did mention on the way home how much I hate water.

Wasn't pretty but champ picked up another cast win.

Eight Bells

Rolled into the sack at 4:30 and was woken up by my kids at about 8. Layed in bed till 8:30 wondering why we drove 2.5 hrs for a fourth and a fifth. LOL.

Had a good time. At least we represented South Central (IA) well.

My kids take swimming lessons at the YMCA. Should I sign you up for next semester. You could be in the polywog class.

Thanks Chris but it won't help. That's all I need is a bunch of little kids laughing at me while I flail around like a fish out of water. I took lessons when I was a kid and a swimming fitness class in college. Although I imagine I probably float a little better now than I did then.

Wadding!!

That's what you get when you hunt in that flat country when the water is up!! I don't believe anyone got wet over here in the "hilly" part of Iowa last night at Anamosa. We hunted 24 dogs (8 nt. ch) and I got 3rd reg., so just need a first to finish Saddie. Congrats on your cast wins guys. Take care, Ron.

Hey Corey congrats on being the first one in the nashua lake this spring. Most people like to wait til it gets a little warmer, but hey atleast the dog had the coon when you got there. Next time you come to Shell Rock you might want to pull a jet ski behind you to the hunt.

Russ

I should of crashed the party and stayed dry. The worst part of the whole deal was after I got across and found his coon Ron Garbes yells back that if I go down stream a ways there will be a place it's not as deep and should be able to get across about thigh high. The next half hour of the hunt sucked. I'll take the hills any day.

Matt

Thanks. I will keep that jet ski thing in mind. I wish he wouldn't of had the coon so I could of withdrawn and not spent the rest of hunt shaking.

LOL...

... this is fun reading. Sorry to laugh at your expense about the water... i HATE to get wet...TRULY hate it... I would be a fair weather hunter... All the days I spent outside caring for the horses...riding the horses etc..in the rain snow heat... I guess it made me hate it more...plus I'm just getting old. However...I still love hearing about OTHER people dealing with water...LOL... ALSO... as Russ knows..I'm JUST SLIGHTLY short.... and well... alot of places would be a BIG challenge for ME to cross water....

I'm sorry you got wet and apparently REALLY chilled as well... But MAN...He HAD the COON!

Happy Hunting! Heather

Zach told me about your hunt, I think it was the same spot that ron behne had to come back and get a boat at the bluetick hunt last year. A couple years ago me and a buddy were hunting the same spot and the old walker dog we were hunting got treed right on the edge of the lake on a guys dock in his back yard. Front feet on the railing with the coon hanging out over the lake above him. It was pretty cool. Wish I had a picture.

I figured it was the same spot. I'm not sure how close to the lake we were. I was in the back waters, I guess. either way that water was freaking cold. So tell us some stories from the bachelors party. We need some dirt on the zman.

I would give you some dirt on sinnwell if I had any, but unfortunately he has a lot more on me than I do on him and I think that could end up biting me in the butt. We actually just played some cards and bags and had a few beers. I'll let you know if I get anything at the reception....If I can remember it.

Island

I think someone needs to build a bridge back there to get out to the island, if Garbes is going to send hunters out there. It didn't look that wide, but very deep the night I was there and it sure was warmer in June than last weekend. I know exactly where you were at and what you had to do in the 'swimmin' department to get your dog. Good thing the new family is on the way before last Sat. night!!! Take care, Ron.
