Lex was a great dog to have in the kennel. She was a sweetheart with people and other dogs. SHe was actually a pet for several years before Tom got her back and sent her to Iowa to Chris. She was a natural. She had a good nose, straight and a stand on the wood tree dog that was typical of the rat/raven cross. She started out for Chris as chop all the way with a nice locate. When I got her here, she changed her track mouth to a bawl and a hard chop on the tree. She would get her feelings hurt if you scolded her to hard but she didn't do much to have to be disciplined for. She could really haul the mail on a hot track and did a nice job on cold tracks. I was going to grand her but she got attacked by coyotes in a hunt one night and it messed with her so I just decided to take pups with her instead of competition hunting her anymore. She was probably the best mother to pups of any female I've had. She had a great hound mouth and when she came treed you knew it. The only thing she ran off on me one night was a bear, she was with shadow and Sally......they got it treed. I didn't need a leash to lead her, she would walk with you if you wanted her to, just had to tell her.

I miss the ole girl....she was never any trouble to hunt. She was a medium hunting dog who would split and have the coon most of the time. She liked company but would get the job done on her own. Her worst fault was rolling in stinky stuff. You had better wear gloves when you hunted her cause she would find it and get in it, it would be caked all in her collar.

That's about the best I can describe her.

Pastor Mike, Hey buddy I need to give you a buzz sometime, I see haze getting busy. Love the ol haze pups I hunted with a Haze x Sue pup the other night doing good nice loud mouth everypup out of that cross is running and treeing lets go hunting one night, and catch up you still need any firewood.
