So does anyone know of any pups directly out of him still living? When did Mike stop breeding him?

Heya guys. Whats goin on in the Wild World of Coon Hunting? Yep I am still alive, much to somes dismay. LOL. Still out here in Utah making that green stuff. Mrs. Walkerfied had to buy a brand new baler cuz she burnt the other one up and the bank doesnt have anymore room for all of it. How are the dogs doin? Not much coon huntin' out here but there are some nice cat dogs. Met a few nice fellars out here wanting to take us out for a big tom this fall and I am getting excited about it. I talk to Mike every few weeks to check up on Diz and the latest stats on the pups. Sounds like they are settin' the world on fire. The Mrs. had to have Trammel put down her Nitech. gyp this week. She got some kind of degenerative disease in her hind end and was getting worse by the week with no relief in sight. Dad still has Nikki up at Mike's and as far as I can tell they are still gonna try breeding her to Diz when she comes in next but she hasnt stuck the last 2 times. I ll try to check in occasionally with you guys and see how things are goin...Hard to keep up with JS's new handles...LOL seems he is in trouble more than he is out. lol Be seeing you guys.

Just bought a hound with 4X Boone

He has Boone 4 times, but through Sackett Jr. 4 times. His 4 great grand sires are Sackett Jr., Sackett Jr., Sackett Jr., and Sackett Jr. Son. Oddly enough, he looks like a clover bred dog. Open marked and black headed.

Post a pic of him Mathman. I think you're trying to hide away all of the Boone and Sackett jr. blood!

Picture

I don't have a picture right now, however, he came from Ben Crocker in Michigan and his name is Nt. Ch. Maple River Flake. If you do a search you'll see pictures of him in the post where Ben had him up for sale. He's a good looking dog...just looks like a Clover dog. He's a young dog and I have high hopes for him. I have alot of Sackett Jr. Blood here. Have a direct daughter of Jr. that I'm going to try to breed to Cowee Creek Clint. Have 2 females out of my Jr. daughter and Dizzy that show Jr. 3 times. Also have a 5 month old pup out of Cowee Creek Clint. If I stay as happy with them as I think I am now I plan to continue to line breed.

Hey HOBO gettin lonely on here isnt it? lol I guess I will be done out here this summer sometime and I am gonna take some time off and do some hunting. Dad and I have bought a few females the last month or so and I cant wait to get em in the woods. We went with some Boone blood mixed with the popular stuff mostly. I just bought a Grnitech female off of Gap...and we bought a 2 y/o all grand female off of Gold and a Dual Grand sister to Cutter, she has a 1st and 2nd in ukc in only 2 hunts and we are gonna make a run with her this summer to finish her Grnitech. Nikki is bred to Dizzy finally, just waiting to see if she is stuck, should be able to tell anyday now. We still need to get her 1st on her and that will finish her nitech. I also bought a female off of a dog off of Rat and one of Travis Browns females, she is almost solid white except for her head and is a pretty nice looking female to be so open. I had to replace the Mrs.' nitech female we had to put down so this lil gyp should do the trick. Her mama is out of a nitech female off of Clay Scott's ole Son dog. All of the females with the exception of the last one are big females, Mama weighs 68lbs. and Molly weighs 64lbs.

I talked to Mike quite a few times here in the last month or so and he bought a secret weapon off of Dizzy here a few weeks ago that is something else. He is off of Brandy and is a full brother to the one that finished nitech at 9 mths old. Mike Calls him Bo, he has some pkc money won and has 2 ukc 1st's on him. He has Fatcat up at his place too and has been hunting him too off and on. He is a nice dog.

We are planning on going to Autumn Oaks this year and will prolly hunt at least one nite if not two. Hope to see everyone there this year since we havent had the chance to go in 2 years. With fuel prices going through the roof and everything else along with it I dont expect to see a turn out like there has been in the past, but I have been wrong many times before.

Talk to ya ll soon.

WOW Who let you out of the box??? here I thought you had done turned into a tic man or something. LOL

Good to hear from ya Walkerfied. I've hunted less this last year than ever before...

I have a young male off of Boone thats looking pretty good no more than I've hunted him. Guess someone needs to light a fire under me so I'll get him in the woods more like he deserves to be.

LMAO

Ya know I actually considered buying an old blue tick to keep around here to train pups with but I figured by the time the Diz pups got to be 4 mths old or so they would be running off and leaving the blue dog in the dust, so I decided it was prolly better to just use what I got to train the pups with. lol

Mathman
Your inbox is full and you are forbidden to receive anymore pm's until you do some house cleaning. However to answer your questions, Mikes number is 472-3563. And Diz is producing super nice pups off of every female he is bred too. With that being said, will every pup make it? NO, not off any dog I dont care how he is bred, who promotes him or how much water anyone thinks he can walk on. Alot of this, IMO, has to do with who owns them, how they are handled and trained. Some people just should not be trying to start pups, alot of folks dont know how to be honest. From what I have seen and heard about with Diz's pups is you cannot leave them sit in a dog pen until they are 12 or 14 months old and expect them to fire out there and start treeing coon. His pups typically start very early and should be hunted and messed with from an early age. The current PAD on Diz is:

470 pups
7 nitech's
6 Grch's
14 Ch's
There are more dogs needing anything to finish nitech than I can list and I know that 3 of the 7 nitech's are no more than 2 wins from Grnitech and are also PKC ch's and Sch's.

As far as Fatcat, He hasnt been in any hunts that I know of since Mike bought him from Mike Grant but I believe he is having a fellar handle him this summer for him in the hunts. He will finish pretty quick because he is super accurate and is by himself alot.

I hope this helps and answers your questions. If not give me a call and we ll dog talk for a bit in a lot more detail. 435-864-3247

Thanks Dan

I called Mike and talked with him for a good long while. He gave me all of the good and bad on Fatcat...also talked to me quite a bit about the Bo dog. He's got some of the same things to work on with Bo that I have with a young Nt. Ch. I just bought. I've got a 2 yr. old and a 1 yr. old out of Dizzy and my Sackett Jr. female. The 2 yr old is Fatcat's littermate and she sounds alot like Fatcat. Tightmouthed on the ground, independent and an awesome treedog. She's going through a spell right now that I question her accuracy but it is tough to find a coon around here right now. Even after you see them once it can be next to impossible to see them again. The 1 yr old is just getting started and I'm really looking forward to what happens with her. She seems a little more open on track and looks alot like her momma. Thanks for the input and information. If Mike doesn't get Fatcat to a handler we are going to get together in the next few weeks so I can see him go. Good luck with your litter.
Matt

Thoughts

If you don't mind a bit of a drive you might consider breeding back on Cutter. As close as you are to Indianapolis you might also consider Cowee Creek Clint. I've heard from alot of folks that he throws nice pups. I know he's thrown a bunch of Gr.Nt's and also a PKC world champion in the Fightin Side dog. I tried to breed my old Jr. female to him and missed. Could have been her because I know he has been getting litters from other females but he is 11 years old. Todd also has the Wrangler dog that is out of Clint and Racoon valley Queen. I've not heard much about his pups but have been told he is a really nice hound. I've got a young Nt. Ch. here that you could breed to just so I could see what he does bred to a Dizzy female. He's never been bred before, but if he finished to Grand he'll be able to throw an all grand litter. His mother is the back to back, Michigan Pkc state champ. He's got a ton of Sackett Jr. and Lipper breeding in him. You could breed to him for free. Good luck

Christy...

I think you are right that the oldest Dizzy pups are 3. My female is one of the older ones and she'll be 3 in August. I think there were a few litters born before her.

Christy

There is only one other litter older than Mathman's off of Dizzy, and they are just over three by a couple of months, they are off of Mike's Tina female. The majority of his pups are 2.5 and younger. If I was going to get a female off of Dizzy to head up your kennel I would try to book a pup off of Mike's Brandy female. The pups off this cross have been outstanding litter to litter. I think the cross has been made 3 times. Off the first litter a male finished nitech at 9 months old, Mike Grants Ringo dog is off this cross and Mike's Bo pup is off this cross. Bo needs anything to finish nitech, currently has 2 firsts and won a minislam in Ark. He also has some PKC money won this year already. Ringo has a couple of places as well and needs a first to be nitech. John Evans and his son TA in Kentucky also have a male off this cross that is a nitech(almost grnitech) and has a wad of pkc money won, I think they call him Lil Diz. There are alot of nice females are being bred to Diz though and I am sure as good as you and Q are with young dogs whatever you get will turn out to satisfy you.

Kokomo

There are so many dogs out there right now to breed to that its hard to go wrong. If it was me though I would really sit and think about what my female lacks and try to find a male that really lines up with her across the board to come up with something better. Pedigrees are important to sell pups no doubt, but its more important to improve upon what we have. You obviously dont need to breed for looks, Daizzy is a very nice looking gyp. If you wanted to breed back to a Dohoney bred male I would consider Mike's Slim dog. He is in Michigan and is throwing some super nice pups and he is a fantastic coondog. Breeding back to Cutter wouldnt be bad either going back to Daizzy's grandpa. That type of linebreeding has had great results in the past, especially if you are tickled to death with your female and want to continue with what you already have. I would worry about getting a little too much tree doing this. Another decent option IMO would be going with her bottom side and breeding to a wipeout dog, they really bring independence and track power to the table. Whatever you choose I am sure you ll be happy with, just dont breed to be breeding, make sure you've done your homework. Here is a bit of Slim's pedigree. If you want to know more about him let me know, I have hunted with him and had his sister for quite a while.
