Took Bob down river tonight hoping to tree the White Ghost Coon. He struck a fair track and moved it in a big loop then headed south. I text Mr. Ed and told him it was moving out like a Rutting Boar and the further Bob went South with it I was convinced that's what he was after. The Coon put a couple of tricks on Bob but each time within a couple minutes he had him lined back out. The Coon took to the River and so did Bob, picking his track right up on the other side and steady heading West with it. About 250 yards west of the River and 616 yards from where I sat listening to as fine a job of tracking that I have heard in a long time, Bob Locked the tree DOWN. No pause or checking just lock it down and blow the top out Solid Treed. I took Boat on down River then walked the rest of the way and took a fine video coming in to the tree of a Classy, Clean Tree Dog. He was really Hammering that Big Oak and I found the Coon quick and with a clean head shot out he came. Long, Lean, Hungry looking Boar Coon that looked like he had been doing a lot of Rutting. Job Well Done by Smilin Bob who is making a Fine Hound.

Sleepy thanks for the invite but I ain't ready for a long hunt yet. In Pain and only good for a drop or two and I'm grouchy so I wouldn't be good company. Just ask Beverly, lol!

Could most of us ask for a better setting/way of life that you have by the river. Looks like a real feast on top of that table. I'm sure it was enjoyed by all that were present.

Sure sorry to hear about your health issues. Medical changes have come a long way & I hope the doctors came come up with a plan to got you fixed up soon. Will be keeping you in my prayers that your physical challenges will be better soon.

Always look forward to your stories & great pics from your area while we're having our 'slow time' hunting hear in the cold north country. I always look forward to you & Mr. Jack having some new stories/pics at the end of the day after being outside farming with a -10 windchill like we had today. Just enjoy what you can still do & I hope things get better soon. Take care, Ron.

Steve, Bob sure does look good on that tree and from what I have seen him do when we hunted togeather, I like him. He is going to be a good one.

Thanks Ron and Mr. Jack. Bob is starting to make us Smile. Took Bo for a short hunt night before last and he got one treed quick across road from house on the Cypress Slough so we took Bob over there last night and he did the same thing. Snow and Mason was with me and we had a busy day on the River so we were going to make it a short hunt. God Blessed us with just what we wanted. Bob struck at 57yds and treed at 107yds. Hard. We were setting on a log and just listened to him a few minutes and he was talking to him. We eased on in and he was on a medium tree and the Coon was 3/4 of the way up looking straight up. Mason and Snow got to see him then I knocked him out for Bob to see. Can't remember the last time I had a hound tree a Coon that close that quick. Very good hunt.

Thanks Tommy. Bob is 19 months old. He has really hit his stride and consistently treeing coons every night I take him. Starting to work out some tough tracks to and he's not slow about it either. This Hound does Not stay in one spot long, he will drift and pick it back up and get him treed. Him and Bo being half brothers is Cool but the Coolest part is they share the exact same Birthday, June 26th. We are leaving out Wednesday night heading to Mr. Ed's to tree some more of those Illinois Coon. The weather is looking great for the trip and I Pray my back holds up so we can hunt 4 or 5 hours each night and stay long enough to close out the Season with him which ends on the 15th at midnight. I know he is looking forward to listening to Bob tree those Coon up there as much as I am.

Well then, I guess that explanes it. You should give Bob or Bo for that matter to me for my birthday. Oh it's easy for you to remember, June 26, 1962. It's only fitting for me to have a hound with the same birth day as mine. LOL

Mr. Tommy it is cool to have a dog with the same birthday as its owner. As Steve said, Me and Steve and Sheba 11 has the same birthdate. There is only 68 years difference in mine and her ages. It makes it a lot better too if that hound makes a pretty good dog. I would go along with you on Steve giving you one of his hounds because you have the same birthdate, but then he would want Sheba, so I had better keep quite.LOL. Take care Mr. Tommy

I had a dog once that had the same birthday as me and we came to a mutual understanding that we did not like each other. I sold him.

Steve have a safe trip to Ed's and hope you have a nice hunt. I am sure you have some dog power to get some of those Illinois coon up! Say hi to Ed for me and take care.

Beverly and I left out for Mr. Ed's a little after Midnight and by the time I got to Jackson, Ms. I knew I wasn't going to make it but I took some Medicine and drove on. Just South of Memphis I turned around and came home. My back and leg muscles was a Nightmare of Pain and Knots. Never have I been so Frustrated in my life. All evening it has been bad even with Beverly putting Horse Liniment up and down my spine and taking muscle relaxers and pain meds. Still waiting to hear about getting to see a Neurosurgeon and get an MRI. Never thought I would live long enough to see the day I couldn't drive 11 hours to see a friend and enjoy Coon Hunting. School starts tomorrow in the backyard with BO. His days of pulling on me with the lead and lunging to the side when he smells something and dragging me with him are OVER. He will heal on command when I'm done cause my back can't take the abuse any longer. Never take your Health for Granted, It can be gone in the blink of an eye and what you loved to do all your life will be gone with it.

Steve, I just looked on the board and seen where you had to turn around on your trip,Man I'm sorry you had to do that, because I know how you were looking forward to it, but I am more sorry about your back pain. I'm sure praying that they can get that fixed for you. I know that there is one that can fix it if its his will. If there is anything I can do for you. Take care of the dogs or what ever, let me know. If you get tied up in a hospital some where be sure and tell Mrs. Beverly to let me know where you are at.

Hang in there buddy. Not to many things worse than having a lame back and being restricted from doing what you want. Especially when you got a nice young hound like Smiling Bob to be in the woods with. Keep your head up and things will surely get better.

Thanks for ALL the words of encouragement guys and the PM I have received and the voice mails on my phone. I have found an Inversion Table I am going to buy tomorrow morning and Beverly is going today to get a 3" thick Memory Foam Mattress Topper for the bed. Just trying different things to try and get a little relief. I share my life the good and bad on this board and know that fellow Coon Hunters will understand. Not just that we All have up's and downs in life and deal with physical and emotional pain But that we understand what it's like not to be able to hunt our beloved Hounds as much as we want or not at all. I told my Mom about having to turn back and all she said was " If you get rid of those Ole Hounds and quit pulling those Sinker Cypress Logs you would feel a lot better, that's what has got you down anyway. " Some people just don't get it, even the ones that should know you best.

Starting to feel a little better. Chiropractor did some table drops on me the other day and popped my neck a few times and I've been using the Inversion Table and sleeping on the new Memory Foam. I think All of it is helping me because yesterday and today I'm feeling more flexible and less pain than I have had the past 4 months. Took Bob for a short hunt last night and he worked a track down the Cypress Slough, in and out of water and got treed on this leaning Maple that went into a huge Cypress and the Coon was all the way to the top. I let him tree about 15 minutes before I made my way to him because I was on the phone with a friend. The temps was about 48 with low humidity and Bob had that Cypress Bottom ringing with sweet music. Going to hit it a little harder tonight.

Thanks Gary. I'm better this past week. Moving around a lot better and getting more done around the house. Believe the Chiropractor has turned the corner on me and it's giving me some relief. Also the Inversion table is helping. He said I would want to use it the rest of my life. Donald, a lot of times that's about the angle we shine the trees around here when we finally find a hole up through the privet hedge to look through. Straight up. Not many times do we get to look the whole tree over from a distance and I'm sure yaw have the same problems down south of me. That was a fine looking litter of pups you had and I bet there's going to be some loud mouth Coon tree'ers in the bunch. Good Luck with them.

Spring has arrived here on the River. For a month now we have had temps in the 70's and now getting into the low 80's. Other night hunting Bob there were Lighting Bugs everywhere, Hoot Owls cutting up, and Geese flying overhead headed North. Turkey was Gobbling across the River the other morning too. I love this time of year for hunting and fishing. We had a good fish fry last weekend from a good mess we caught on the River. We had a good rain of over an inch last night but before that we were getting dry for this time of year. I hope the River gives us a break and don't flood this Spring. Would be nice to just keep enjoying the pretty weather and fishing without the hassle of a Flood.

Took Bo down river in the boat tonight and he made short work of getting one treed. Cut him straight from the boat and he left in a dead run and was struck at 243 in about a minute. Drove that track hard South East and Treed Hard at 375. Went in and found the Coon up the Big Water Oak he was on and knocked it out to him. Still trying to get the White One treed down there but no luck so far. Leaves will be on soon so it needs to happen in the next week.

Had a busy day today loading and hauling some History of Magnolia, Ms. There is a Corner Drug Store old brick building been there forever and it had a second floor upstairs that had been used to store things from the small town for almost 100 years. Last week I bought some Old Fenton Glassware and made a deal and bought All the Old Windows, Doors, Shutters and Marble Slabs. The Marble was once the Soda Fountain Counter in the Drug Store in the 40's and 50's. The windows and doors came out of a Church that was built in the late 1800's and when they remolded in the 30's they took the doors and windows out and stored them in this place until today. Me and a friend got all the Marble and half the Windows to my shop today and will get the last of it tomorrow. I tested my back today very carefully but the Marble had to get moved. It weighs 23 pounds a square foot at a inch and a half thick and the slabs were 17" wide by 8 feet. Over 250 pounds so we each toted 125 or better. I'm sore and stiff but the hard parts over and I go back to Chiropractor on Friday so he can fix whatever I might have got out of whack. Love the History of this stuff and hope to use it with my Sinker Cypress on a Project one day. We filled that 2X4 rack with windows and have about 30 more to get.

Took Bob to Bo's Bottom tonight and the first Coon he trailed out of the Swamp and up into the hills right into somebody's backyard. 30 feet from their house and on this Big Oak right against their shed he Blew the Top Out. Sure was easy to spot the Big Coon in a Big Fork of the tree as I came across the fresh mowed lawn with nothing else growing around there except some pretty flowers that were in full bloom. I took quick video as I came across their yard and hooked him up and got out of there. Next drop deeper in the Swamp he got treed at 111 yards so had another short walk to the tree. Good night of Hunting.
