Like I said the single reg. program needs overhauled breed by breed ,but that isnt issue at the moment the issue is weither there is enough interest in single registering big game hounds under a format that doesnt require them to tree a coon.

as the moderator I figured you would be more aware of whats going on, LOL

Simple if you all are still gonna fight for single registration in general even though you yourself have stated that there needs to be changes then everyone including all the coonhunters need to know what your plans are for their breeds they hunt because as Todd stated there would not be two categories......so consider yourself SPANKED, LOL

Acoording to Todd.
All Six breed associations were receptive to this Idea. !!!!!

That Dose not mean.
"All the details are Worked out. But all the breed asscociations seemed to think the Idea was a GOOD ONE.
We as "Big Game Hunters" may want to put some ideas out there for UKC to consider when it comes to making this work. Our imput will be Needed.

Sorry but I think this is pretty silly...leave well enough alone already. If you have a coonhound that hunts bear, great...it's still a coonhound. Thats how they began years ago and thats how they are still predominantly used. Are we going to end up with classes for "coon hound", "bear hound", "Cougar hound", "Bobcat hound", "Fisher hound", "Grey fox hound", "Deer hound", "Show Hound", "Couch potato hound", etc? We cant even all agree if a bobcat is small game or big game. Fish and game here in NH considers them small game, as do I. It seems the people who consider a 30 pound cat big game are the ones running them with their "BIG GAME HOUNDS". Such a cool title.

I honestly see all this damaging the breed in the long run. Honestly, I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone here...but wouldn't all this energy be better spent either fighting and securing hound hunting rights, or doing something for the needy, or kids?

Mj I dont think you understand,this will not seperate breeds into classes.This will allow big game hounds that meet breed standards to be single registated by treeing/baying their respected game.

As far as damaging the breeds,there are several breeds that could use the influeance of some big game blood back into the line.

I vote no! From what little bit of it I can grasp any way. I'm not sure I am a "big game" hunter or not I hunt wild hogs on the Gulf Coast an have treed coon an bear with the same dogs? But I hog hunt an am just moving into competition coon hunting. I own dogs on my yard that I hog hunt with that contain some degree or another of registered Plott blood or Southern Black Mouth cur. I can find the papers an go back on them a good ways but I couldn't ever see registering them as Plotts or Black mouths. I do think of them as big game dogs cause if you've never ran an bayed hogs it can be pretty brutal, long races, an take a sure enough dog!! But just knowing how they're bred don't make them Plott's! They contain some other blood, which dilutes the Plott blood. I wouldn't mind a serperate registry for "Big Game Dogs" or "Big Game Hounds" ... but I wouldn't want to single register them as Plott's an I have AKC UKC registered Plotts. I would need more info on this issue but as I understand it it just wouldn't work for me.

I think its a great idea but for the inspection process at least around here it is almost impossible for just one dog to get a bear on a limb just because of the terrain and the way the bears run. plus if there is only 1 dog the bear wont stay up a tree long enough for you to get there because there are no roads and the only way there is on foot. It would help the some of the breeds and give them some real traits that a lot of dogs today are missing like some track power
