Thank You so much Doug. I'm gonna try some new territory by hunting around Blairsville. I have never been to that part of the state and am looking forward to hunting in and around that area.

We may not win a thing but I sure hope we tree a few coons, and hopefully get to see some good dog work as well. Thanks again my friend!!!!

Well the prep is all done and its off to the zones. I wish every English hound the very best of luck!!! The are some very fine English Hounds being hunted this weekend and hopefully one of them will win it all. I know there are several that are capable of doing just that.

I pray that the God keeps each and every one of us safe in our travels away from home this weekend as well as the following weekend in our endeavor to win it all.

May God bless us all, as we set forth to Hang'em High!!!!

Thanks so very much guys!!! Sat.Nt. was a total bust, we hunted 119 minutes on our 1st drop, made a couple trees, but the ground cover was so thick the dogs couldn't seem to be able to get through this stuff. We found a coon inside a den tree scoring it with one minute left in the hunt. Holly got struck and treed on our last drop of the night but the problem was that it took about 3 minutes to do this and she only had 1 minute to work with. We walked in, seen the coon but it was all for not. Though we didn't get a big score Friday night, we did have good guys and some good dog work. I did have to go to overtime on Friday night to win that cast as Holly and this Plott dog were dead lock tied at the end of two hours. That said we won that one in overtime, that was kinda fun as I have never had that happen to me before, lol!!

Pulling for all those fine English hounds that are left, to pick me up and bring it on home!!! Good Luck Guys and again Thanks so much Dave & Doug!!

Thank You Frank, glad to hear your young dog is doing a fine job. Holly & I came up just a little short but we sure had a good time conversing with all my good friends and making some new ones.

Doug & Jay, thank you both as well. This coonhunting is fun but it wouldn't be the same without good folks such as you all, Frank, Dave and so many others rooting us on.

Now we must pass the torch on to the five dogs competing tonight. My gosh, I feel for those folks tonight as the weather is pouring buckets on these guys. They are some tough guys out there and I'm rooting for every English hound to bring it home, even with three of them in the same cast.

That Asa must be one tough customer as he is there again this year and I'm betting he will be tough to stay with, if the weather doesn't wash them all away, LOL.

Hooper Ridge Sudden Sam

Good Golly Dangit!!!! Hooper Ridge Sudden Sam attended our local club's UKC night hunt last night where he managed to hang on to his plus points and won 2nd place. That was his 2nd night hunt of his life. He is young and this coming season will make a ton of difference, but he did show good striking, tracking, and treeing skills, and some sign of independence.

May end up being a nice hound but only time and boot leather will tell the real story. But I do like his god given talent.!!

Frank wishing you the best of luck with these pups. I think you will like what LE is reproducing.

I have been hunting Holly & a young female I have named Jaz. She is a grand pup to Main Street Jack, My Hooper Ridge Speed Buggy (who is out of my Rocket dog) Paul Gibson's Party Dancer hound, and Chris Morris's Dolly female who is double hard time bred.

Jaz is only 9 months old and starting to get better with every drop I put on her. She seems to be doing better when I drop her by herself, as she won't really stay with Holly very well anyway, LOL!

I think I'm gonna have a blast this season training this little gal. Again good Luck to you. Come up anytime for a hunt!!!

Hunted Holly last night and she sure has a way of making it look easy. these type hounds get old wayyy to soon. Season is just around the corner and all are welcome to come for a hunt, Holly & I can go about any night except Sunday.

Hunting

I took Holly and went to West Virginia last night and hunted with my good friend Nick Meige. We hunted off his Polaris Ranger and man was that fun, not to mention how much it saved two old mens legs from having to climb those big ole hills.

We treed 3 singles, made a rock den, and treed in a mess of vines. Dogs looked pretty good and the rain held off, so we were very fortunate to have had such a good night!!

Man I love this time of the year!! Wishing all a safe and enjoyable season!

Hello Dave, Please allow me to say THANK YOU for taking Tim, Dion, and Myself hunting. What more could we have asked for, Beautiful woods, warm night, coon moving well, dogs working good, and absolutely GREAT Hospitality. I don't know how I can repay you for such a great time but man it was fun. Tim and Dion were good guys to spend a night in the woods with as well. Cannot thank you enough for putting this together. Looking forward to a road trip to Tim & Dion's one night, might be easier on this old man but hey ain't that what keeps us young, running up and down those danged hills chasing a tree dog, LOL!!

BCotton, thanks for the compliment on Ole Holly, Last week was the stupidest I have ever seen her look, but she usually can find a way to get under a coon once in a while. But to talk me outta her your gonna have to talk faster than an auctioneer on steroids, LOL. Just Teasing my friend, but I do like her about as well as any female I ever owned.

Not a bunch Dave, seems like this has been the craziest coon season for me in awhile. Every time I get ready to go, something comes up and gets me sidetracked, LOL. Had plans all day yesterday to hit the woods at dark. Well at 5:30 my daughter calls me to say my son-in-law has just shot a nice buck and wants me to bring my hunting lights to find it. after 2 1/2 hours of searching all we found were two drops of blood. Needless to say I never got turned loose till about 8:45. 1st track straight to a den, pup treed some on that tree. second track Holly gets treed, pup goes on, Holly has a coon on outside of den. I tie her and go looking for the pup as she is now over the ridge in the next hollow. Well she beats and bangs, and finally works her way into a farmers barn lot where she starts booger barking at his calves. Well I waste no time going and catching her and informing her its not nice to bark at farmers live stock. I take her back to Hollys tree and shoot the coon out and leave her tied back and she goes nuts.

I go drop the pup one time by itself but it is now 11:30 and I'm in a bottom that is cold and frosty. Pup works a track off a hillside, across a bottom, and barks treed at the edge of a big creek, not wanting to take the water. I go catch her and head for home, get their about 12:45. I think I will hunt some this week as the weather sound like it is going to be good. We will see what else comes up LOL!!!

Well I'm about sick & tired of looking out the window at a 15 degree thermometer and snow on the ground. Tomorrow night I'm gonna hit the timber no matter what the weather is. I guess I'll find out if I'm feeding a dog that will tree a coon or actually feeding a coon dog, LOL!!

Well one of my hounds has already proved where she stands but this younger gal I'm hunting can be sometimes (WILDER THAN A PEACH ORCHARD BOAR) If you know what I mean, LOL. At any rate I guess I can go shine some den trees, that seems to be the norm this time of year around these parts. You go to the woods, make 5 trees, one or two will have a coon in them and three or four will either be dens os empty.

NOW LETS GO COONHUNTING GUYS & GALS!!!

Dave i am going to try it also..lol about to go crazy or should i say crazier lol. i went monday took young female made a den,had a hard time staying on my feet.hills and snow and slick boots dont go together..lol
