Richard

I have a 6 year old handler on your female right now as I have been real busy. He walks her out in the woods one quarter of a mile with his brother and lets her hunt and then hooks her up and walks her back. Thats all that has been done with her. Dave

Pictures...

Just seeing that 6 year old leading that pup around would be a picture worth seeing.

Richard, I lose track pretty easy so you'll have to show her progress a little more to jog my memory.

Hey Mark...if you don't know where she came from...there's no hope for me to figure it out

Tom, Mark knows all but unlike me he doesn't always tell all. She has been to Buckeye Coon College and is now headed to Virginia State for some graduate work. You will be able to see her go at National Redbone Days if you come down.

OK....

Yep...that sure clears that up...

Come to National Days? I doubt it Richard...I can't hardly get enough time off to mow my yard...good thing momma knows how to saddle up and ride the mower...eh?

All I can do these days is watch and listen to what other folks are doing. I've got a good one sitting here but that's about as good as it's going to get for awhile...plain and simple.

I hope everyone does good down at Brazil...it's always fun to watch it all unfold and see what new comes out of it.

T-Top, the Everready Kennels, they just keep going and going and going! Here is my newest acquisition. He is a 12 mos old grand-pup of Rabble Rouser. I just picked him up at American Redbone Days and it took a few days for us to get to know each other but he has now settled in just fine as you can see.

Chuck, I heard that you sold your English dog. You need to call Bud Hood. He has a 14 mos old 1/2 sister to him that he is going to sale. She is a paid up Spring S/S pup. Mr Barnett, I have been calling him "Bear" and he sounds good up on the wood also.

Prospects...

Geez Richard...you've got prospects piled up like cord wood around your place...keeps life interesting I suppose...eh?

There's nothing like having some young, up and comers to keep the fire burning...it would be better yet if it wasn't summer and we were looking forward to frost instead of the dog days.

I was just back by the ponds and for the first time I noticed a pile of little coon tracks down around the water. A couple sets of fawn tracks and lots of little coons...things are looking up for the rest of the summer and fall.

It has been hot around here also...we had a couple days in the low 90s and that's something I don't want to have to get used to. We finally got our share of rain and the crops and everything is lush and green so a good year is shaping up.

Won't be long and I'll have a couple little projects to work on again...should at least be interesting if nothing else.

Congratulations to Tim and Griz

I heard from Tim MACHA and he says he picked up a Nt. Ch. win on Griz last night...says it wasn't real pretty but the win slip looked the same

A couple of weeks ago, he said that Griz looked really good and came up short by 25 points so I guess things even off in this business...eh?

Griz...

Griz is a coon dog and he's easy to get along with and good to handle...I like him...

Congratulations Tim...he's one of those hound dogs and you're one of those people who deserves good things to happen to them and it's nice to see things fall into place now and then.

Cross

We've got a couple more surprises in the works. We have a coyote hound here now that is a full sister to Cuz and she's going to be mated to Gun if everything works out. Lots of T-Top and a double Shot of Pete up close...good stuff.

In the next 6-8 months we'll have some ideas on some youngsters that I'll be messing with. I'm guessing that one of these youngsters will be capable of being the next big thing but only time will tell.

At some point, these young dogs that I'm going to start, are going to be in need of handlers and I've been known to make a deal here and there........

I'm looking forward to watching some of these young hounds around the country, out of Haze and Moose and Rocky and Deuce and others and I'm thinking they're going to make a name for themselves somewhere down the road. I like to watch it all take place...it's as good a reason for messing with these dogs as I can think of.

It's going to be hot over the next week or so...I wish fall was here...

YANK'S SON ACE

T-TOP ACE LAST NIGHT
As my friend from VT. says" Could I Tell You Something ". You don't read much about Yank on here but he is a COON DOG and he is also Ace's Sire. I hunted with Yank and he will flat tree a coon and not take alnight. I haven't hunted much this year as my Dad passed away the middle of March. I have had plenty going on. Took Ace last night and mixed a little fun time in. Richard I hauled your pup 10 miles one way and then walked her three miles up and back a creek Sunday. She didn't bark in the box or get sick but she was wet around the face from the ride. Dave

Ace

He looks good on the wood Dave...I really like that young male a lot. Hopefully Cherry will come around soon and we can get it done and produce another litter like that first one.

Yank is in good shape and living the good life but he'll be getting plenty of work in a few weeks as we start getting these dogs back into shape for late summer and into fall.

We'll put Yank on a couple of females that we know are good coon dogs and we'll see how it all plays out down the road.

Ace sure looks good, he's a nice young hound with brains, looks and lots of ability...and he can reproduce...can't get much better than that...eh?

Pups

Hey Tim...that's a pair of real nice looking pups. If they hunt as good as they look, you'll have yourself a real nice package for sure.

Richard...with all those youngsters you have piled up in the yard...you've got enough to keep you busy for years to come...eh? It's a nice group of pups from a pretty broad base of males and females and lots of potential top to bottom and in between.

I've got a few irons in the fire also but a long ways to go before I'll know what I've got. I've already got one of the females I'll keep picked out...one of two for sure...and only two males so I'm not sure which of those I'll settle on.

We got a female directly off Rabble Rouser and Ruby mated to Gun so that will put Rabble and Pete up close 2-3 times in 3-4 generations. From what we're seeing, the dogs out of Rabble and those Pete females are doing real good regardless of what folks put them on...coons, coyote, bear, bobcat and even lion. Lots of go power, good mouths and smart enough.

Should be an interesting late summer, fall and winter this year.

Power

Richard the power just came on here at the plant where I work. I will be able to come on Sat. if all goes well. I want to leave in the night Friday so Woofy will not get so hot. We still have no power at home. It has been bad. No power since Friday and every Day has been 95 or higher. Hope the power comes on at the house soon. I work at a Fiber Glass plant and when you are down to long it is a real problem getting back up. I will be here most of the night. Dave

Welcome back

Hey Dave...it's sure good to see that you're back in action at least part of the way. Your message indicated that it has been pretty rough with power out, hot temperatures, trees down and damage to buildings...that's tough no matter how you look at it. We have been praying for you folks and all those folks affected by that storm through Ohio, WV and Virginia and wher ever else it hit. It's never easy to deal with those kinds of things but it's a blessing that you're all safe and no serious injuries in the family.

Anyway, I'll hope that your power at home comes back soon and that you guys can start getting back to normal or as close to it as possible.

It has been very hot up here also and close to 100 today and tomorrow before it breaks by the weekend...we hope...

God bless you all and continue to keep you all safe.

Thanks

Tom thanks so much for the Prays. We still have no electric at home. Got out of work about 11:30 last night and then here came another storm at 12:30. It had a lot of lighting and some much needed rain not much wind ( and that was a good thing ). These wind storms that never come through Perry county Ohio don't have much rain they just tear things up. I would hate to live were they deal with this all the time. The dogs are doing good. Plenty of water. I hope I get to take Woofy to Richard this Sat. If not I will have to get her to him later as I can't go if we don't get power back by then. Take care and thanks again for the Prays. Your Friend, Dave P.S. Calling for 100 Friday and 101 Sat. to go with the no Electric.

Update

It was good to hear your voice again today Dave...I know it has been a tough haul for you folks out that way but it was good to hear that they can't keep a good ol' WV mountain man down for long

After talking to you, I'm amazed at how it must have been a very humbling experience and I could tell that it makes a person appreciate the little things so much more.

I look forward to sitting down under that overhang on the new garage and having a morning cup of coffee with you...we'll make it happen when we can and hope that it's not so far in the future...eh?

Take care and I hope the lights keep coming on around the county for you good folks.
