Yep...

Yes sir...that's all good stuff!

A trip to Wisconsin...? That will make a dog out of him I think. You put him out in coon country with the prof and only good can come from it...eh?

Tim...that's all good...you gotta take care of those youngsters...the ones with 4 legs and with 2 also. Nothing like a young pup with a world full of potential...there's only a short window of time when we can enjoy that feeling so help that youngster make the most of it.

Hey Andy...we called her Run Around Sue and she was a nice prospect. She has some real good blood flowing through her veins so I'm happy to hear that you're enjoying her the way you are. I can remember a couple of specific hunts with her from way back when she was under a year old and I thought then that when she matured and learned her business that she could make a nice hound. I think I remember Buddy also...was he from Yank and Angel? Anyway, it's always nice to have a dog or two that can tree us a coon when we want to get one treed...sometimes that's as good as it gets...eh?

I have yet to know the pleasure of being in Kentucky in the fall and winter but I'm sure hoping to make it part of my experience before I reach the end of the trail. I don't know that I could stand the heat in the summer...I like the cool seasons of fall, winter and spring and even up here...summer is too warm for me.

I've had the good fortunte to see NC in the fall and it's also a very nice part of the country. We all live in our own little part of the world and sometimes don't realize how close these great sights and experiences can really be if we'd just take the time to see as much of our great country as we can...Some day...some day...

Tom-Sue is a coondog, no fast game. She looks identical to Leine. I'd love to see those two under the same tree..oh well. Still planning to breed her now next April. (Just went out). Moose might the way to go. what do ya think?

Squirrel is alot like Leinie. Just about bomb proof. Head full of sense and a BIG window rattling mouth . I can hear her better then JJ. On the vid. We shot one out and it hit the ground running. I just about had my boot on it. But was half a second slow. Thick nasty cut over crap. JJ come flying and took off after it. Here comes Squirrel. Nose down and stikes in and was off. She was just a bawling/squalling on this track. JJ put it up under that ledge and we got in there just as Squirrel came rolling in. Track took about 10 minutes. Squirrel found out that theres a reward at the end of them tracks. She'll be busting her own tracks in a month.
The guy that was with me (Brad). We were hunting his dads farm. They used to hunt walkers when he was a kid. He was telling me how his dad used to bash redbones.
Brad says "fricking JJ and Squirrel are better than any of those walkers"
All I could do was smile
Scott

Opening weekend...

We had a good opening weekend with great weather and beautiful, star filled nights to make it as good as it gets...

Yank and Gun...

Yank...

Gun...

Opening night harvest...two of these coons were 28 pounds, one was 26 and the others 18-20. It was a nice bunch of coons.

We had a real good night last night also with 5 for the freezer and 7 treed overall. It was a rough start because had to crawl to the top of the bluff and then all the way down the other side to where they were treed but...that's hunting in this part of Wisconsin.

Training day

These pups are coming along and are done with this stage of starting. They fired up good without an older dog to show them the ropes...

These pups are ready for the next step and I'd guess that by winter, they'll about be ready to tag along. They will be 5 months on Oct 21 so a good start and what I'm used to seeing...good stuff.

Thanks Ron, we had a good weekend and were fortunate to harvest some real nice coons. We left a bunch sitting in the trees this last weekend also, so we'll hope they'll be there for late season.

The pups are progressing very nicely, I like what I see out of them and look forward to seeing them grow and learn their business.

I see where you have a nice young hound that is doing some winning for you...that's great, it seems that our breed is coming up with some nice young hounds and that they are doing some good winning this year and that's something to look forward to for us all.

We had a friend along this last weekend and it was his first coon hunting experience. He enjoyed the process and was able to see some good dog work so we're looking forward to him learning more about this great sport and we'll help him and his nice young T-Top female pup get going in the right direction so that he can enjoy it as much as we have for all these years.

We're also looking forward to seeing Pastor Mike, Buck and Wendell in about a week or so. The weather is like early summer right now but it's looking like we'll be enjoying some Wisconsin reality by next weekend Cold nights and cool days make for good hunting...eh?

Cherry

We're looking forward to getting Cherry home here and then we'll be looking forward to a nice litter in a few weeks. She and Ace did good the first time you crossed them so we'll hope that she produces another bunch of pups like the first.

I have some days off this next week and I'm looking forward to some extended hunting time with the guys. Right now, the weather is looking great with highs in the 40s and lows in the mid to upper 20s to around 30 all through next week. We expect a little rain again this week so conditions should be good.

The breeze is blowing through the timber above the house this morning and I can hear the leaves rattling down from the oaks...it's a sound that puts the soul at peace and is the tide of another change in our season...I love this time of year and nothing better than to share it with good friends.

Hunting

It sounds like it should shape up to be a good time. We'll have a pretty good crew so no coon will be safe within close driving distance...and maybe even far driving distance...depends on how it goes...eh?

It's going to be cold overnight those first few nights, 20-25, but from mid week on, it looks like near 30 overnight so not so bad at all.

Dave took Gun alone last night and got a couple nice coons treed with him. He's starting to demonstrate what we're looking for more and more so next spring, we'll hope to get enough time to get him in some hunts and see how it goes. I like that dog...
