Those are neat pictures Dave...I love it when we can go back and look at these dogs when they were pups, especially after they turn into coondogs. One of the things that I never did well all those years back, was to take good pictures and video of the dogs I've owned so that I could look back on those dogs and those days and remember special moments. I don't make those mistakes anymore, I make sure I have pictures of most every situation because it really doesn't take that much to carry a camera and to take the time to get photos of dogs and people right in the moment.

I got some video of Yank and Gun the other night and I'm going to upload it later on. It's interesting that this will be the first video of those two dogs together even though they've always been together since Gun started. It's easy enough to just forget to do it and then lose the opportunity.

Dave and I will be looking forward to seeing Mike, Buck, Wendell and Scott this weekend and hopefully we'll put another good bunch of pictures and video together.

Dave took 4 kids out hunting last night and had a decent hunt. He figured he should warm up the dogs before Mike, Buck and Wendell got here this evening

This is quite a crew...


Our good friend Scott B. came over today and he, Dave and 3 more kids are loaded up and gone already. When Mike and the guys get here later on, we'll either take the night off so they can get caught up on some rest or we'll head out and see if we can find Dave and join them for a drop or two before calling it a night.

We'll see what the morning brings...eh?

Dave, I and the Fav five hit the woods at about 8 pm. Dogs were Yank, Gun and JJ. We had 5 in the box by about 11 pm. We bagged a 32 pounder and a 28.
All the kids had a chance to shoot. I think it was Chase who rolled the 32 out. It hit the ground running. Dave, Yank and Gun were quickly on it. We added one more after the cartel arrived.
Had a blast. I'll be back up Thur. for another round.

Nice job with the pictures Scott...pretty much what I had saved to take a look at but I got one of the group that turned out pretty good.

There were more last night but the rest of the kids weren't around this morning to get in on this photo...


It was a good time. Mike, Buck and Wendell held up pretty good for hardly having any rest since early in the morning.

We'll be messing with some pups this week and trying it again so we'll see how it shapes up.

We had another decent hunt last night with Yank, Frog, Wison and Wilbur.

We ended up with 5 coons on 5 single trees and one of those was split...
Mike, Buck and Wendell...the dogs are Frog, Wilbur, Yank and Wilson.

We had some good dog work and the pups got in on some good action. We always hope that something good will happen to benefit the young dogs when we take them along and last night was good for both of them.

We'll be giving it another go tonight. I won't be able to go along because I have to work in the morning for a little while but Dave should be out so hopefully they'll get something rounded up. We'll see what the morning brings...eh?

Ha Ha........funny Delcamp. I can say one thing though about losing all this weight.......I've been getting up these hills pretty steady without much of a sweat.....

I think Buck and Wendell may need to take something to lose some excess baggage

We had pretty good night last night, ended up with a 34 pounder that educated 4 dogs and was close to educating Wendell as well.

Tom will post some pics later from last night, we got a few to share.

The guys went hunting last night and had a pretty good time Lots of excitement from what I could tell...lots of excitement!

Here's the guys and some of the dogs...Samantha, Wilber, Dozer and Frog.


Here's another...Mike, Wendell, Buck and Dave ...and one BIG coon..


The coon Mike is holding weighed in at 34 pounds and the one closest to him was just under 30 pounds and a really big coon. The next one was 25 and long and lean so a real nice night. We have harvested 5 coons over the last week or so that when totaled and averaged, would average over 30 pounds with the weights being 34, 32, 29, 29 & 28.5. Those are some nice coons for such a short period of time. We usually harvest a few at or close to 30 pounds but this season so far has been very good for large coons. Dave has brought home several since opening night on either side of 30 pounds so it started even before the guys got up here.

Gun was also along but didn't get him the picture...we'll have one later with him along. The dogs looked road hard and put up wet this morning. Limping on one foor or another...swollen faces and bite marks all over from the scramble they got in while rounding up that 34 pounder...sounds like a pup or two got a good education again last night.

Anyway, it was a decent night. Dave G. came over to hunt with us and brought his nice young male along that he calls Dozer...he is out of Moose and Leinie so it was kind of nice to get them all together.

I am hanging close to the computer tonight so that I can get out the next two nights...can't take too many long nights in a row anymore...My Dave and the guys headed out again tonight so we'll see what comes of it.

The weather has been real cold and clear since they got here with most nights getting down to the mid to low 20s and very frosty. The moon is bright as can be so the dogs are doing good work to get these coons treed like they are...It's a hoot watching these hounds get the job done.

I suppose you all notice that the Red dog that Wendel brought along has been hunted so hard...it started wearing the red off

I am real excited to have some coon fall out to Double Rabble(Griz-Cid).
He was doing pretty good until the dry hot summer and then I pretty much shut down his training. Been getting out a little since we have got some moisture and cool down. Tonight seemed to be the night everything clicked. You know when it seems like everything stalls out and there is no progress and then a switch flips on. He was up on the tree hammering and I had to literally drag him off the tree. I was so pleased, I had to call Tom up so he could hear. It was just too nice not to share. lol

Another good night last night and another night of extra large coons.

This is a picture of the guys and dogs from last night...


These are the coons they got...one got caught in the creek so looks a little ragged...


One of these coon weighed just a hair under 30 pounds...29.9 and two others were over 26. The young dogs got another good education last night, the big one gave a good account of himself after coming out of the tree

We've got a couple more nights left and plan to make the most of it...we'll see what the morning brings.

We had another real good hunt last night. We took Yank, Dagger and Wilber.

We ended up treeing 11 coons in 4 trees...one tree with 4 and one with 5 while the other two were singles. The coons were all pretty good size but we left the rest for seed...

I got a couple of decent pictures of Dagger last night and I think Mike got some nice ones of Yank and the rest.




These are the coons that we got...I don't much like carrying them so I skinned all but one in the woods...


Scott came over today so we'll have the first night gang together again. It was real nice last night but is supposed to get back down into the low 20s again tonight so we'll hope this 15 mph wind dies off by dark.

So far, we've had pretty good dog work with most tracks being finished with the meat. We've run some into the ground and under buildings also but the dogs did their job as good as they could so not much to complain about at this point.

We're hoping to have another solid night tonight considering that tomorrow night is the last night the guys will be here and we'll probably need to keep it short because they've got a long trip ahead of them on Saturday.

Here's what it looks like from straight back...


There were a lot of photos of Gun and Frog on the tree and all are like the top two. They have almost the exact same tree style and when looking from either side...you can't hardly see the other. They almost even bark with the same beat
