I find your poll very interesting. As I type you have had 746 lookers and only 29 with opinions. I find that amusing. I thought in the coondog world every one had a opinion. By the way I was in the1st 5. Couple more thoughts: Absentee or mail in yet to be counted?

I don't know... not really smart enough...but I suspect many of the "lookers" are fake accounts... not even people... I suspect there are programs constantly searching posts online for certain phrases and such that make them of interest to scammers.

For anyone looking to get into the Dogtra system, I have a Gen-1 system for sale in the classified section. I prefer the Gen-1 as it used Google maps.

It would be interesting to know how many hunters own either of these and how many have used both.

Looks like about double that prefer the Garmin over the Pathfinder ......at least on this Poll.

Some of the Garmins have too much junk on them that I know I will never need.
I like Simple.....to know where my dog is, how far, mark my truck so I can get back to it.....😁

I actually own both systems at the moment, Garmin 300 and Dogtra 2. I had a dogtra 1 for 3-4 years and really liked it. It just seems like the new dogtra 2 has had too many problems, I have had to send it back two different times. Now the maps are better on the Dogtra, hands down! But in every other dept, I give Garmin the edge, such as: range,
dependability, much more rugged, and in my opinion dealing/shipping with Garmin is easier than Dogtra.

Just wondering if you are using the maps on your phone with the Garmin. I don't use maps on the garmin at all. Just the compass. The maps on the phone are great.

I do use the Garmin Explore app at times, but the map on the huntview card is good enough for me.. the only knock I see with the explore map on the phone is that it doesn't show distance in yards..

I have had both. Garmin got slightly better range with the alpha 10 and tt25 collar. Not as good with the alpha 300 for some reason. But for me the dogtra 2 picks up just about as good, easier to use and for the price is much better. Especially now that you can get the Google maps on the dogtra 2.

Only downside I see to dogtra is the collars don't stay up as long but if you charge every night it doesn't make any difference.
