Weather conditions.

What weather conditions do you think are best for hunting big game? Please be specific what you are hunting and what part of the country.

This is kind of a hard question to answer. We try and make due with what we get..

We are bobcat hunters in Oregon so we run into a lot of wet $hitty snow... The first snowfall is usually the best. When there is just a skiff on the ground, enough to see tracks, and the ground it still frozen. You can cut roads easier that way and that is much faster then roading the dogs or walking and free casting them. Or if all the snow melts off, then it snows again.. Little snow is better for us..

Seems we have better luck with bear on a frosty morning. Never had the chance to run them on snow. Hot , dry days with a breeze are tough.
Cats , we seem to do best on 0 to 20 degree days with fresh snow. Wet , slushy snow seems to give the dogs alot of trouble. 10 to 20 below seems to crystalize the snow and it don't seem to hold the scent long.
Rabbits or hares , same as above , but the beagles seem to do ok on top of a crust. They have to slow down a bit because they can't use their eyes , but they do ok.

rain and bear

if it rains all nite and stops in the am-- get out there as soon as rain stops and they will be moving--- if rain stops at 1 pm

then 1 pm is as good a time to hunt as 5 am is normally -

have hunted a lot in the rain or just after because usually dont work in rain-lol
i pay attention to when it starts and stops more than if it is--

i hate to see it rain starting at daylite --- bear have done there thing and i have no clue where they go but they seem to layup somewhere ---lol

deer are easier to see ---ever notice how deer are out in meadows after a rain mid day

when if it didnt rain it would be dusk and dawn

bear are about same patern -
